The Report Builder lets you put together your own report from a list of ready-made business numbers, like revenue, tips, appointments, new customers and refunds. You can break it down by day, week, month or technician, then save it for next time. It's for owners and managers who want one table with exactly the numbers they check. It's available on every plan, but Gross Profit and anything broken down or filtered by technician need the Growth plan or higher.
Getting there
Open /app/reports/metrics-builder in your browser. The page is titled Build a report, and the Reports list stays down the left side. The page also has a link, Looking for the raw pivot builder instead?, that takes you to Custom Reports.
You need the "View financial reports" permission. By default that's the Owner, Admin and Manager roles. Without it the page says you don't have permission and points you to Settings → Team → Permissions.
Picking your metrics
The Metrics card has a checkbox for each number you can add. Tick one or more:
- Total Revenue, Total Tips, Payments Collected, Average Ticket
- Appointments Scheduled, Appointments Completed, Cancellations + No-Shows
- Gross Profit (marked Growth+)
- New Customers, Commission Earned, Discounts Given, Refunds Issued, Quotes Created
Each metric becomes a column in the results table. The table updates as soon as you change something. There's no separate Run button.
Setting the window and breakdown
- Lookback — pick 7d, 30d, 90d or 365d. The window always counts back from today in your shop's time zone, so a saved report shows fresh numbers every time you open it.
- Breakdown — choose how the rows are split:
- No breakdown (one row) — one total per metric.
- By day, By week, or By month — one row per period.
- By technician — one row per installer.
- Technician filter — narrow every number down to one installer, or leave it on All technicians.
A few rules the page enforces:
- By technician and the Technician filter only unlock when every metric you picked can be split by technician. New Customers, Commission Earned, Discounts Given, Refunds Issued and Quotes Created can't, so remove those first.
- You can use By technician or a single-technician filter, not both. Picking By technician clears the filter.
- Gross Profit can be shown as a single total or By technician, but not by day, week or month.
Money shows in dollars and counts as plain numbers. If nothing happened in the window you'll see "No data in this window."
Saving and reusing a report
- Set up the metrics, lookback and breakdown you want.
- Click Save report.
- Give it a Name (for example "Monthly revenue by technician") and click Save report again.
Saved reports appear as chips in the Saved reports card at the top. Click one to load its settings. Hover over a chip to see how many metrics it has, its breakdown and its window. Saved reports are shared with everyone at your shop who can open this page.
There's no edit button. To change a saved report, load it, adjust it, and save it under a new name. To remove one, hover over its chip, click the trash icon, and confirm Delete. That can't be undone. A chip with a warning icon is a saved report whose settings are no longer valid. It can't be loaded, but you can delete it.
If you see "Requires the Growth plan or higher"
This appears in the results when your shop is on Starter and you've added Gross Profit or used a technician breakdown or filter. Remove those to see the rest of your numbers, or upgrade from Settings → Billing. You also can't save a report that uses them.

Frequently asked questions
Q: What's the difference between Report Builder and Custom Reports?
A: Report Builder uses a fixed list of business numbers like revenue, tips and appointments, with day, week, month or technician breakdowns. Custom Reports is the older pivot tool that counts or sums invoices, appointments and customers by status, day or source. The Report Builder page links to Custom Reports.
Q: Does a saved report keep the dates it was saved with?
A: No. A saved report remembers the lookback length, like 30 days, and counts back from today each time you open it.
Q: Why is By technician greyed out?
A: At least one metric you picked can't be split by technician: New Customers, Commission Earned, Discounts Given, Refunds Issued or Quotes Created. Remove those and the option unlocks.
Q: Which parts need the Growth plan?
A: The Gross Profit metric and any technician breakdown or technician filter. Everything else works on every plan.
Q: Can my team see the reports I save?
A: Yes. Saved reports belong to the shop, so anyone at your shop who can open the Report Builder sees them.
