Generic auto-shop software was built for mechanical repair — brakes, engines, electrical, parts. It treats a tint shop or a detail bay like a square peg in a round hole. SalesThumb is the opposite: built from day one for the visual-result trades where the work product is paint, film, coating, or graphics.
Why we exist
Walk into any successful tint, PPF, ceramic coating, detail, or wrap shop in the country and you'll find an owner who built a great trade business — and a software stack stitched together from tools that don't quite fit. A scheduling app meant for hairdressers. An invoicing tool meant for freelancers. A spreadsheet for film inventory. A separate spreadsheet for warranty tracking. A SMS reply tree in someone's personal phone.
We started SalesThumb because the people doing the actual installs — the techs, the front-desk operators, the shop owners — deserved one tool built for them. Not a generic auto repair tool with a "tint mode" toggle bolted on. Not a detailing-only CRM. Not a one-feature wonder like a tint-quoting app that stops at the quote.
The whole operating system: customer record with vehicle history and photo timeline, scheduling that knows about bays and multi-day jobs, quotes that price by window-set or square-foot, invoices that handle deposits and AR, warranty certificates that customers can show 5 years later, the Domino's-style public job tracker, the live activity feed for the lobby TV, the smart-pricing close-rate analysis, and the mobile installer app the techs actually like using.
One platform. One nationwide price. Every feature included. No credit card.
What we believe
We don't bolt 'tint mode' onto generic auto-repair software. Every workflow — film catalog, ceramic tier, vinyl yardage, warranty PDF — is designed for the specific work these shops actually do.
Tint, PPF, ceramic coating, and wrap are visual trades. The work product is paint and film, not parts replacement. Our app puts the photo at the center of the customer + warranty + portfolio surface.
The Domino's-style live job tracker, magic-link portal, post-completion tip + rebook flow — these aren't add-ons. They're how a modern shop earns repeat business and 5-star reviews.
Rate limits, idempotency keys, webhook delivery retries, cron heartbeat ledgers, audit logs. Shop owners should never have to think about whether the system is up — and it always is.
Even a single-shop operator might add a second location in 18 months. HQ tier, per-location overrides, region tools, and a unified org tree are first-class — not a separate enterprise SKU.
Claude-powered daily owner brief, inbox triage, photo QC, sales-playbook nudges. AI shows up where it makes the operator's day faster — not as a marketing buzzword.
Under the hood
We chose technology that lets us ship fast without ever risking shop uptime. Next.js + PostgreSQL on Neon + a PCI-compliant payment processor + Twilio for SMS + Cloudflare R2 for files + Anthropic Claude for the AI surfaces. iOS and Android via Expo / React Native. All US-hosted, all encrypted at rest and in transit.
The technical foundation isn't a marketing story — it's the reason your shop's data is safe, your customer's payments settle on a predictable next-business-day schedule, and the app loads fast even when your bay's wifi is bad.
