A franchise HQ can stop its locations from straying from the approved brand and price book with two switches: Lock brand colors and Lock service pricing. They're part of the +HQ add-on, and only org Owners and Admins can change them. The Brand Control settings page is only for Franchise organizations.
Where to find the locks
The same two locks appear in two places. It's one setting, so changing it in either place changes both.
- HQ sidebar → Branding: the FDD Compliance Locks card at the top of the HQ Branding page. Each switch saves the moment you flip it.
- HQ sidebar → Settings → Brand Control (in the Admin group): tick Lock brand colors and/or Lock service pricing, then click Save. This tile only appears for Franchise organizations. If you open the page from a Multi-Location org, it tells you to switch the org type to Franchise on the Organization Profile page.
For Franchise orgs, the Data sharing step of the HQ setup wizard shows the same two locks.
If you're not an Owner or Admin, the HQ Branding page shows an Org owners/admins only notice. You can still see the current settings, but you can't change them.
Locks take effect straight away. Locations don't need to save or refresh anything.
What Lock brand colors does
- Locations can't change their own primary or accent colors. If someone tries, the change is rejected. Re-saving the colors they already have is fine.
- Logo uploads are still allowed.
- If a location goes through its own setup wizard again, its color stays as it was and the rest of the wizard still saves.
Separately from the lock, the HQ Branding page explains that your organization-wide logo and colors are used for every shop ahead of the shop's own. Customers see them on the booking page, customer portal, quotes and invoices. For what a location sees on its side, see Setting up shop branding and a custom booking domain.
What Lock service pricing does
With pricing locked, locations can't set or change prices anywhere they normally could:
- Creating a new priced service, or changing the price of an existing one
- Adding pricing rules
- Priced packages and additional fees
- Fleet pricing overrides
- Product prices, including prices brought in by a CSV import
- Sales Matrix film prices (retail, sale and today-only)
- Applying a Smart Pricing suggestion
What locations can still do:
- Edit service names, descriptions and taxable flags
- In the Sales Matrix, rename and reorder items and change their images, as long as the price stays the same
If a location goes through its own setup wizard again while pricing is locked, any new priced services from the wizard are skipped and the rest of the wizard still saves.
At the location, Settings → Services shows a Pricing locked by HQ badge, the New Service button is turned off, and the price can't be edited on existing services. For that side, see How to build your service catalog.
The lock stops locations changing prices, but it doesn't set prices for them. To control what they charge, use HQ's own tools, such as Pricing Rules. See Per-location pricing overrides — when and how.
Keeping a record of lock changes
Every time either lock is switched on or off, an entry is added to the HQ audit log. The org Owner can review these under HQ sidebar → Audit Log, where they show as "Brand color lock toggled" or "Pricing lock toggled". Only the Owner sees that page.
Frequently asked questions
Q: I changed a lock on the Branding page. Do I also need to change it under Brand Control?
A: No. Both pages control the same setting, so changing it in one place changes it in the other. Branding saves as soon as you flip the switch. Brand Control saves when you click Save.
Q: Can a location still upload its own logo when brand colors are locked?
A: Yes. Lock brand colors only blocks the primary and accent colors. Logo uploads are still allowed.
Q: With pricing locked, can a location still rename a service?
A: Yes. Names, descriptions and taxable flags can still be edited. Only prices are locked.
Q: Why can't I find Brand Control in HQ Settings?
A: The Brand Control tile only shows for Franchise organizations. For a Multi-Location org, the same two locks are on the FDD Compliance Locks card on the HQ Branding page.
Q: Who can see when a lock was changed?
A: Each change is recorded in the HQ Audit Log, which only the org Owner can open.
