Pricing Rules let HQ set a floor and a ceiling on discounting for every shop in the network. A location can charge more than the floor, but never less. This needs the HQ add-on.
Where to find it
In the HQ sidebar, click Pricing Rules under Admin. You can also open Settings and click the Pricing Rules tile under Franchise Ops. The page is headed Network pricing floors + discount caps, with one card, Active rules.
Who can do what
Anyone with HQ access can open the page and read the rules. Adding a rule, switching one on or off, and deleting one need the Manage org settings permission. HQ Owners and Admins have it by default. If you don't have it, the page says so under the heading and hides the New rule button.
Add a rule
- Click New rule.
- Pick what the rule covers. Use either Service category (the box starts with TINT; other examples shown are PPF and DETAIL) or Or service name pattern (optional). The dialog says to set one or the other.
- Fill in Minimum price ($), Max discount (%), or both. Save rule stays off until at least one of them has a value.
- Optional: write a Rationale (shown to operators when rule fires).
- Click Save rule.
If you clear the category and leave the name pattern empty, the rule covers every service in the network.
What the two limits do
- Minimum price is a floor on the net price of a line. If a shop enters a lower price, it is raised to the floor, and a discount can't push the net back below it.
- Max discount is a cap on the discount, as a percentage of the line before the discount. A bigger discount is cut back to the cap.
Which rule wins
A line can match more than one rule. SalesThumb picks the most specific one:
- A rule with a service name pattern wins first. The pattern matches when the line's name contains your text, ignoring capital letters.
- Then a rule with a service category. The category has to match the line's category exactly.
- Then a rule with neither, which covers the whole network.
If two rules are equally specific, the stricter one wins. A rule with no floor and no cap does nothing, so it never hides a rule that does.
A line with no category on it only gets the network-wide rules. A category rule won't be applied to it.
Where the rules apply
They apply when a shop builds a quote line, when it saves a quote template, and to the Sales Matrix kiosk packages. They also limit the separate discount lines that a shop adds to a quote or invoice: the total discount on the document can't go past what your rules leave room for.
Turn a rule off, or delete it
Each row has a switch on the left. Turning it off keeps the rule but stops it applying, and the row is greyed out and marked Disabled. The trash button on the right deletes the rule. Changes take effect for new quote lines. They don't rewrite quotes that already exist.

Frequently asked questions
Q: Can a shop charge less than my minimum price?
A: No. The price is raised to the floor on the quote line. A shop can always charge more.
Q: Why does my rule not apply to one service?
A: A category rule only applies when the service's category matches exactly, and a line with no category only gets network-wide rules. Add a rule with a service name pattern for that service, or a network-wide rule.
Q: Do I need both a minimum price and a max discount?
A: No. A rule needs at least one of them. Fill in one or both.
Q: Who can add or delete rules?
A: People with the Manage org settings permission. HQ Owners and Admins have it by default. Everyone with HQ access can read the list.
