Adding window tint to a quote or invoice

How the Add window tint dialog works on quotes and invoices: pick windows on the car, set tier and shade, flag old tint removal and add priced lines.

6 min read

The Add window tint dialog builds the tint lines on a quote or invoice for you. You tap windows on a car layout, pick a tier and shade, and it adds correctly priced lines from your Sales Matrix catalog.

Where to find it

  • New quote: click Add item, then choose Window tint under Guided builders.
  • New invoice: in the Line Items card, click Add window tint.
  • An existing invoice: while its lines can still be edited, click Window tint next to Add line item.

The dialog says "Pick windows + a shade from your tint catalog — priced exactly like the in-store Sales Matrix." If a vehicle is already on the quote or invoice, the dialog uses it to choose the right price chart.

Before you start

The dialog prices from your tint films and window prices in Sales Matrix settings. See Sales Matrix catalog settings.

  • With no tint films set up, it says "No tint films in your catalog yet" and shows an Open Sales Matrix settings button.
  • If your prices can't load, it says "Couldn't load your tint prices" and offers Try again.

Build the tint lines

  1. At the top, pick a Tier and a Shade. Better is selected to start when your shop has that tier, and the shade list is your shop's own list of shades.
  2. If your shop prices by vehicle type, a Vehicle type drop-down appears. Pick one. Until you do, it says "Pick one to use your price board".
  3. Tap a window on the car layout. A window you haven't set yet takes the tier and shade you picked at the top right away. The layout runs from Front of car to Rear of car and includes the windshield, glare strip, front and rear doors, front and rear quarter windows, sunroof and back window.
  4. Tap Both between a left and right pair to set both windows at once.
  5. To change one window, tap its pill again. A Pick a tier box opens with your tiers, None, and a Shade drop-down.
  6. Use the shortcuts if they save time. Full vehicle picks the four doors, the back window and the windshield. Quick sets are one-tap groups such as Sides & Back, Rear & Back, Both Fronts and Both Rear, unless your shop has set its own. Tapping a group again when all its windows are already picked clears them. Clear removes every pick.
  7. Check the footer. It shows how many windows you picked, a tier summary and the Subtotal.
  8. Click the button at the bottom. It counts the lines it will add, for example Add 2 line items.

Flagging old tint to remove

If the car already has tint, tap the window and tick Has old tint to remove in the Pick a tier box. Flagged windows get an amber dashed outline. To flag removal without adding new tint, tap the small pencil on a window you haven't set. Until you flag one, a note reads "Already tinted? Tap a window to flag old-tint removal."

When you add the lines, the first line gets a note such as "Old tint to remove: Front driver, Rear driver".

What gets added

You get one set of lines per film, not one per window. Five windows on one film are one line, named like "Window tint — [windows] ([shade])". The windows in the name use the labels from the picker, such as "Back window" and "Glare strip". Depending on how your prices are set up, each can be split into a film line and an installation line. The footer shows "price-board pricing" or "flow-chart pricing" so you know which price chart was used.

The lines are normal lines on the quote or invoice. If you don't have the Manage pricing permission and a line's price can't be matched to your catalog, you see a message such as "[line name]: Ask a manager to change this price." See Why a quote price doesn't match the service price list.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Why does the dialog say my tint catalog is empty?

A: No tint films are set up in Sales Matrix settings yet. Click Open Sales Matrix settings, add your films and window prices, then try again.

Q: Why did five windows become one line item?

A: The dialog adds one set of lines per film, not one per window. All the windows on the same film are combined into a single line.

Q: Why is the Add button greyed out?

A: It stays off until you have picked at least one window that gives a priced line.

Q: Do I need a vehicle on the quote first?

A: No, but it helps. When a vehicle is on the quote or invoice, the dialog uses it to pick the right price chart.
