Buses, RVs, limos, box trucks and sprinters don't fit the standard window grid. Custom / Oversized lets you price one on the spot, by the square foot or panel by panel, without adding anything to your catalog first. It's on both the quote builder and the invoice builder.
Where to find it
- On a quote: open New quote, click Add item, then choose Custom / Oversized.
- On an invoice: on New Invoice, click Custom / Oversized next to Add window tint.
Either opens the Custom / Oversized tint window, which starts on By the square foot. By panel is the other toggle at the top.
By the square foot
Best for RVs, buses and sprinters with big, storefront-like glass. Fill in:
- Label: starts as "Oversized vehicle". Replace it with something like "Class A motorhome".
- Total sq ft
- Retail $/sq ft: what you charge the customer.
- Film $/sq ft: your material cost. Optional.
By panel
Best for limos and party buses with countable windows. Each row has a Panel name (for example "Driver door" or "Skylight"), Qty, Retail $ and Film $. The prices are per panel, and Qty multiplies both of them.
Click Add panel for another row. The trash icon removes a row, except the last one. Rows with no retail price are ignored.
The Label field only appears in By the square foot mode. Lines built by panel are named "Oversized vehicle", and you can rename them after they're added.
What gets added
A preview at the bottom shows the Retail total and how it will split, with each row marked "taxed" or "not taxed". Click Add tint lines to drop the lines into the document:
- With a film cost: two lines. A film line, "[label] — film (150 sq ft)", for your film cost, and an installation line, "[label] — installation", for the rest of the retail price. Together they equal the retail total.
- Without a film cost: one line, "[label] — tint (150 sq ft)", for the whole retail price, treated as film for tax.
- Film cost above retail: the film line is capped at the retail price, and there's no installation line.
Taxes follow your shop's tint tax settings in Settings → Sales Matrix Catalog → Window Tint → Tax treatment. By default, film is taxed and labor isn't. In By panel mode, the film line's description lists the panels and quantities. You can edit any line afterward like any other.
Add tint lines stays disabled until there's a price to add: a total square footage with a retail rate, or at least one panel with a retail price. After you add the lines, the window closes and clears itself.
Nothing you enter here is saved to your catalog or Sales Matrix. See How to create and send an invoice and How to create and send a quote.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Can I use this for a regular car?
A: You can, but it's meant for vehicles that don't fit the standard window grid. For cars, use Add window tint on the invoice or the window tint choice on a quote.
Q: Why are there two lines on my quote?
A: You entered a film cost. SalesThumb splits the price into a film line and an installation line so each can be taxed the way your tint tax settings say.
Q: Does this create a catalog item?
A: No. The numbers only exist on the quote or invoice you're building.
Q: Why can't I name the lines when I price by panel?
A: The Label field only shows in By the square foot mode. Rename the lines on the quote or invoice after adding them.
