Pricing PPF and wraps panel by panel with the coverage-map builder

On a quote, pick a vehicle class, film and panels and see film area, film cost and labor update live, then add the lines to the quote.

5 min read

On a new quote, Add item offers two panel-by-panel builders: PPF coverage-map (by panel) and Wrap coverage-map (by panel). You choose the vehicle class, the film, and the panels being covered, and the film area, film cost and labor update as you click. They're on the quote builder only, not the invoice builder.

How this differs from the PPF button

The plain PPF choice in the same menu prices from the PPF coverage packages and per-panel prices in your Sales Matrix. The coverage-map builders price from your film cost and a labor rate per square foot instead.

Before you start

  • Film products: add your film in Settings → Film Catalog with a cost per foot. The PPF builder lists your active PPF films. The Wrap builder lists your active vinyl films.
  • Labor rate and film markup (optional): in Settings → Sales Matrix Catalog, open the PPF tab and find Coverage-map labor rate & film markup. Enter PPF labor $/sq ft, Wrap labor $/sq ft and Film markup %, then click Save. Blank labor means no default labor rate. Blank markup means film is billed at your cost. You need permission to manage pricing to save.

Building the line

  1. On New quote, pick the customer, click Add item, and choose PPF coverage-map (by panel) or Wrap coverage-map (by panel).
  2. Choose the Vehicle class.
  3. Choose a Film product. The list shows each film's cost per foot. "None (labor-only estimate)" skips film cost.
  4. Check Labor $/sq ft. It starts on your shop default, marked "Shop default". Type over it to use a different rate for this quote.
  5. Pick the panels, in either of two ways.

Quick-select preset (PPF only): Partial Front (partial hood, front fenders, mirrors, headlights), Full Front (full hood, fenders, front bumper, mirrors, A-pillars, headlights), Track Pak (Full Front plus rocker panels and door cups), or Full Body (every panel).

Toggle panels, grouped as Front, Hood, Cabin, Sides and Rear: front bumper, headlights, front fenders, partial or full hood, A-pillars, mirrors, roof, doors, door cups, rocker panels, trunk and rear bumper.

The Whole vehicle button selects everything and clears the individual panels. Clicking any single panel afterward turns it off. Partial hood and full hood are alternatives. If you click a panel while a preset is selected, you keep the preset's panels and your change on top.

Reset selection clears it all.

Reading the estimate

The Coverage estimate panel shows:

  • Film area in square feet, and Off the roll, in linear feet at the roll width.
  • Waste factor.
  • The film figure, labeled "Film (at your cost)" or "Film (incl. N% markup)".
  • Labor and the Subtotal.

Open Advanced — roll width & waste factor to change the roll width (default 60 inches) or waste (default 15%, from 10 to 20%).

Adding it to the quote

Click Add to quote. It adds a film line, and a labor line if there's labor, named like "PPF — Full Front — Film" or "PPF — Custom (4 panels) — Labor". The description lists the vehicle class, the square feet, the linear feet off the roll and the panels. The film line is taxable and the labor line isn't.

The button stays disabled until the subtotal is above zero. If it's zero you'll see a note to pick a film product or enter a labor rate.

If prices are locked for counter staff

When your shop uses Locking prices for counter staff, those staff can't edit the labor rate, roll width or waste factor. They get your saved labor rate. If you haven't saved one, they're told to pick a film product to price the coverage.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Can I use it on an invoice?

A: No. The coverage-map builders are on the quote builder.

Q: Why is the Add to quote button grayed out?

A: The subtotal is zero. Pick a film product that has a cost, or enter a labor rate.

Q: Why is there no preset row on the wrap builder?

A: Presets are PPF kits. For wraps, use Whole vehicle or toggle the panels.

Q: Does it add my film markup to the price?

A: If you saved a Film markup %, the film line includes it, and the estimate says "incl. N% markup". Otherwise film is billed at your cost.
