Some owners want the front counter to quote exactly what's on the price list. Others trust their counter staff to adjust a price. The Lock prices for counter staff switch lets each shop choose.
Where to find it
- Go to Settings → Team.
- Find the Lock prices for counter staff card.
- Flip the switch.
It saves right away. Only owners and admins see the card. It's on for every shop until you turn it off.
When it's on
Front Desk and Service Writers can only use your price-list prices on quotes, invoices and Quick Sale. They can still build a quote or an invoice and add services, but the prices come from your price list and pricing rules. In Quick Sale they ring up catalog services at their list price.
When it's off
Front Desk and Service Writers can type their own line prices, discounts and tax on quotes and invoices.
Even with the lock off, changing the price list itself and changing who gets sales credit still need the manage pricing permission.
Who is never locked
Anyone with the manage pricing permission is never locked. By default that's the Owner, Admin and Manager roles. See Set up team roles and permissions.
The mobile app follows the same switch.

Q: Is the price lock on by default?
A: Yes. Every shop starts with Lock prices for counter staff on. Owners and admins can turn it off in Settings → Team.
Q: Does the lock apply to managers?
A: No. Anyone with the manage pricing permission, which is Owner, Admin and Manager by default, is never locked.
Q: With the lock off, can counter staff edit my price list?
A: No. Turning the lock off only lets them type prices, discounts and tax on a quote or invoice. Editing the price list still needs the manage pricing permission.
Q: Does the mobile app follow this setting?
A: Yes. Counter staff in the mobile app get the same lock as on the web.
