Configuring the Sales Matrix catalog is the missing configuration half of Sales Matrix — the TV-displayed selling tool covered in Starting a Sales Matrix presentation. That article covers what happens once you tap Start; this one covers everything you set up first, at Settings → Sales Matrix Catalog (`/app/settings/sales-matrix`), before the kiosk has anything to sell. If you've ever seen the launcher's "No catalog configured yet" banner, this is the page that clears it.
The fastest path: seed a starter catalog
If your catalog is completely empty, the page leads with a "Get a working catalog in one click" card and a one-click starter-catalog button in the corner. It adds a template set across every product line — Good/Better/Best window tint films across the common VLT range, three ceramic coating tiers, coverage-tier PPF packages from high-wear to full vehicle, and residential + commercial flat glass services. Every row it adds is fully editable afterward — pricing, brand names, scripts, marketing copy — and seeding only adds rows; it never edits or deletes anything you've already entered, so it's safe to click on a genuinely empty catalog.
Six tabs, one catalog
Across the top: Window Tint, Ceramic Coating, PPF, Flat Glass, Additional Services, and Settings. Every tab except Settings carries a small count badge next to its label — an amber "0" if the line is empty (meaning it won't appear in the kiosk at all), or a neutral number once you've added rows. That includes Additional Services, which counts your custom categories the same way. It's a fast way to spot an empty product line before you launch the kiosk for a customer.
Category visibility — hide what you don't sell
Above the tabs, a Category Visibility card has four on/off toggles: Window Tint, Ceramic Coating, PPF, and Flat Glass. Turning one off hides that category's pill from the kiosk entirely and auto-skips it on Continue — this is different from just having an empty catalog for that line; a disabled category never shows regardless of what's actually in it. Use this if your shop doesn't do, say, flat glass at all.
Window Tint: vehicle types, pricing grid, and the film catalog
Tint pricing has three layers, all on the Window Tint tab:
- Vehicle types — you define your own buckets (Sedan, SUV, Truck, whatever fits your shop) rather than picking from a fixed list. Each type can optionally carry an auto-pick hint (a body type and/or a "make contains" match) so the kiosk can guess the right bucket for a customer's vehicle automatically. Deleting a vehicle type removes its saved tint prices along with it.
- Pricing grid — Retail, Highest, and Lowest prices per vehicle type and coverage package. Retail is the customer-facing anchor shown on the kiosk; Highest and Lowest are a rep-only negotiating band — a target-close ceiling and a hard floor — that customers never see.
- Film catalog — the actual films: Good/Better/Best tier, brand/line, VLT, IRR and UVR heat-and-solar specs, and warranty. (A TSER column is still shown in the table, but there's no field to enter it on this form — Sean removed that input in 2026-05-31, so it never carries a value for films added or edited here.) Each film also carries its own Retail and Sale price plus a "Today" (today-only) price column. Select multiple rows with the checkboxes and use the bulk-sale bar to apply or clear a percent-off across all of them at once instead of editing row by row.
Ceramic Coating
Ceramic packages carry a tier, brand/line, pencil-hardness rating (9H or 10H), warranty years (99 reads as Lifetime), and pricing. A separate tax-config section on this tab lets you split ceramic sales into material vs. labor for tax purposes.
PPF
Five preset coverage tiers — High-Wear, Partial Front End, Full Front End, Full Vehicle, and Custom — each with brand/line, finish, warranty, and pricing. Custom rows carry their own per-panel rate sheet for à-la-carte builds, and a per-panel pricing flow chart above the table lets you price individual panels (hood, bumper, mirrors, and the rest) that feed into those custom packages. Like ceramic, PPF has its own film/labor tax-split toggles.
Flat Glass: residential and commercial
Residential window film is pitched as a cross-sell to a customer already at the table for car tint — pricing here includes U-Factor, SHGC, and VLT specs to support the energy-savings pitch, priced per square foot. Commercial is an open-ended list — Storefront Graphics, Privacy Film, Security Film, Anti-Graffiti, Solar Control, and anything else you add as a new row — each with its own pricing and sale $/sqft.
Additional Services
Anything that doesn't fit the four built-in categories — detailing is the example given in-app — gets its own space here. It's a deliberately simple two-level list: you create a Category, then add priced Items under it; both levels support reordering and archive/restore (not hard delete, so nothing referenced by a past quote disappears). Every active category you create shows up as its own labeled section inside one combined "Additional Services" step on the kiosk — creating five custom categories doesn't add five new kiosk steps, just five sections inside that one step.
Settings tab: kiosk behavior
The last tab controls how the kiosk itself behaves once you've configured a catalog, and each toggle takes effect on the next kiosk session:
- Show live cart — running total + bundle-savings strip visible while building the cart, vs. hidden until the review step.
- Today-only pricing — adds a third "while your car is here today" price column for urgency framing.
- Social proof badges — a real customer-count pill on tier cards, based on your shop's actual sales in the last 30 days; hidden automatically until a tier has sold enough to show a count.
- Smart defaults — pre-selects "Best" tint on side windows and 70% on the windshield so the customer starts from a sensible default and taps to change rather than building from scratch.
- Salesperson scripts — shows a cheat-sheet talking point in small type on the operator side of the TV.
- Commit creates Quote — locked on. Skip-straight-to-Invoice isn't built yet, so every committed kiosk session creates a Quote; the rep chooses "Take payment now" or "Save as quote" at checkout.
- Bundle discount % — a 0–50% discount applied when a customer selects 2+ product categories (tint + ceramic, for example), shown as a green "+$X saved" pill in the live cart. Set it to 0 to turn bundling off.
Once you've got at least one row in any product line — or you've used that one-click starter-catalog button — the launcher's "No catalog configured yet" banner clears and Start presentation goes live.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Where do I configure the Sales Matrix catalog versus where do I run it?
A: Configure it at Settings → Sales Matrix Catalog (`/app/settings/sales-matrix`). You run presentations from the separate launcher at `/app/sales-matrix` — see Starting a Sales Matrix presentation.
Q: Why does the Sales Matrix launcher say "No catalog configured yet"?
A: Because no window-tint films, ceramic coatings, PPF packages, or flat-glass options have been added yet. Click "Configure catalog" on that banner, or go straight to Settings → Sales Matrix Catalog to fix it.
Q: What's the fastest way to get a working catalog?
A: Click the starter-catalog button in that banner. It adds a template set across every product line — Good/Better/Best tint films, three ceramic tiers, coverage-tier PPF packages, and residential + commercial flat glass — that's fully editable and doesn't touch anything you've already entered.
Q: What do the Retail, Highest, and Lowest prices mean on the tint pricing grid?
A: Retail is the customer-facing anchor price shown on the kiosk. Highest and Lowest are a rep-only negotiating band — a target-close ceiling and a hard floor — that never appear to the customer.
Q: Can I hide a whole product line I don't sell?
A: Yes. The Category Visibility toggles (Window Tint, Ceramic Coating, PPF, Flat Glass) at the top of the page hide that category's pill from the kiosk entirely and auto-skip it, regardless of what's in its catalog.
Q: Can I sell something on the kiosk that isn't tint, ceramic, PPF, or flat glass?
A: Yes, through the Additional Services tab — create your own categories (detailing, for example) with your own priced items. Every active one renders inside a single combined "Additional Services" step on the kiosk.
