The Today tab is the installer's home screen in the SalesThumb mobile app. It lists every job booked for the shop today, grouped by where each one stands, and tapping a job opens the job screen where you move it along, add photos and notes, and wrap it up. On the Starter plan the mobile app is view-only for job changes; status changes, photos and checklists from the phone need Growth or Pro.
Finding the Today tab
Today is the first tile in the row at the bottom of the screen, under the round thumb button. It shows for team members who have installer access in the app. The date and a count (for example "6 jobs · 2 active") sit at the top, next to a Search button, a Notifications bell, and, for shops that belong to a franchise or multi-location group, an HQ Jobs button.
"Today" always means today in your shop's time zone, not your phone's, so a manager traveling in another time zone still sees the right day. The list refreshes on its own about once a minute, and you can pull down to refresh it yourself.
Reading the list
Jobs are grouped into sections, each in time order:
- Now: checked in or in progress
- Up next: scheduled, confirmed, or waiting on a deposit
- Ready for pickup: marked ready
- Done: completed, no-shows and cancellations (shown faded)
Each card shows the time window, a status pill, the customer, the vehicle, the service and the bay or installer. Jobs that haven't started show a hint like "in 25 min" once they're within two hours, or "Late 10 min" once the start time has passed.
Switching between My jobs and Everyone
If you're linked to an installer or bay in the shop's setup, you'll see a My jobs | Everyone switch. My jobs shows jobs where you're the lead installer, the bay, or a helper. The app remembers which one you picked. If nothing is assigned to you today, tap Show everyone's jobs to see the full shop.
Moving a job through its steps
Tap any card to open the job. The status sits at the top, and the button for the next step is pinned to the bottom of the screen so you can reach it without scrolling back up:
- Confirm (from Scheduled)
- Check In
- Start Job
- Mark Ready
- Complete
Some steps also show a small shortcut link: Skip to Check In on a scheduled job, and Skip to Complete on a job in progress. When you check in or complete a job, the app may ask for your location so it can record where that happened. If you say no, the status still changes.
Adding photos and notes
- Photos: switch between Before and After, then tap Add Before or Add After and choose Camera or Photo Library. You can also tap the camera button next to the pinned step button. New photos are staged first. Tap Upload to send them. If the app closes before you upload, it offers to resume them the next time you open the job.
- Notes: type in the notes box and tap Save Notes.
Depending on your role and the job's status, you'll also see Service Timers, Job progress stage checkoffs, Vehicle ID and Inspection, and a film-used section on shops that track inventory.
Wrapping up a job
When the job is Ready or Completed, a Wrap up section appears:
- Text "your vehicle is ready": sends the customer a ready text (shown on Ready jobs when the customer has a phone number). If it was already sent, the button changes to Resend.
- Register warranty
- Ask for a review: on completed jobs, for sales staff and managers.
- Create invoice from quote or Create invoice for this job: on completed jobs, for people allowed to bill.
Calling, texting and other actions
The Customer card has one-tap buttons to call the customer or open their message thread. Sales staff and managers can also Reschedule a job (with an optional Text the customer the new time switch) or Cancel Appointment. Anyone working an active job can Mark as No Show.
For deposit-held online bookings, the job shows Deposit pending — not yet confirmed. Sales staff and managers can pick Cash, Check or Card and tap Mark deposit collected to record money already taken in person.

Frequently asked questions
Q: Why don't I see the My jobs / Everyone switch?
A: It only appears if your account is linked to an installer or bay in the shop's setup. Without that link, Today shows the whole shop's jobs.
Q: Why can't I change a job's status from my phone?
A: On the Starter plan the mobile app is view-only for job changes. A banner explains this. Use the web app, or ask your shop owner about Growth or Pro.
Q: Do I have to go through every status in order?
A: No. A scheduled job has a Skip to Check In link, and a job in progress has a Skip to Complete link.
Q: Can I see today's jobs if I lose signal?
A: If the app has loaded today's schedule before, it can show that saved copy with a banner when you're offline. It's view-only until you reconnect.
