You can run your whole membership program from the SalesThumb mobile app. Managers create and publish plans from the Memberships screen, and anyone with sales access can enroll a customer and tap Redeem when a member uses a benefit. Memberships are a Pro-plan feature.
The app doesn't charge members' cards. Enrolling a customer records the membership, and you collect each period's payment yourself, for example with an invoice.
Who can do what
- Browse plans: anyone with sales or manager access in the app.
- Enroll a customer and redeem benefits: anyone with sales access.
- Create, edit, publish or archive a plan, or cancel a membership: people allowed to manage pricing. By default that's owners, admins and managers.
If you can't manage pricing, a plan opens as a read-only summary instead of a form.
Create a plan
- Tap the round button at the bottom of the app to open Go to, then tap Memberships under Sales.
- Tap + Create plan.
- Fill in Plan name, Description, Monthly price ($) and, if you offer one, Yearly ($, optional).
- Under Benefits (one per line), type each benefit on its own line. Add a limit with "@ N/mo" or "@ N total", for example "Express wash @ 8/mo".
- Tap Create draft.
The web address for the plan is made from its name. To change it, open Advanced and edit URL slug.
Publish, edit or archive a plan
New plans start under Drafts, and customers can only be enrolled in active plans. Tap the plan, check the details, then tap Save & publish. It moves to Active plans.
On the same screen you can change any field and tap Save draft or Save & publish. On a plan that's already active, Save draft just saves your changes. It doesn't take the plan back to a draft. Turn off Show in customer portal (off = staff-only enrollment) to keep a plan off the customer portal so only staff can enroll people.
Archive plan stops new sign-ups. People already enrolled keep their access. The Subscribers list at the bottom shows everyone on the plan, with Cancel subscription next to each one for managers.
Enroll a customer
- Open the customer's profile and tap Memberships.
- If they aren't enrolled in anything yet, tap Enroll in a plan.
- Pick an active plan, then choose Monthly or Yearly. Yearly only works if the plan has a yearly price.
- Tap Enroll customer.
The Enroll in a plan button only shows while the customer has no memberships. To add a second plan, use the plan's page in the web app. See enrolling a customer in a membership plan.
Redeem a benefit
On the customer's Memberships screen, each active membership lists its benefits with how many have been used. Tap Redeem next to the one the customer is using. The count updates and the visit is added to Redemption history.
When a benefit hits its limit, the button reads something like Used 8/8 and can't be tapped. An "@ N/mo" limit resets each membership period: every month on monthly memberships, and once a year on yearly ones. An "@ N total" limit never resets.
Cancel a membership
Managers tap Cancel membership on the customer's screen, then Cancel plan to confirm. The plan stops renewing, and the customer keeps their benefits until the end of the current period.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Does enrolling a customer on mobile charge their card?
A: No. SalesThumb records the membership and tracks the benefits, but it doesn't charge members. Collect each period's payment yourself, for example with an invoice.
Q: Why can't I enroll a customer in my new plan?
A: New plans start as drafts, and only active plans can take members. Open the plan from Memberships and tap Save & publish.
Q: Why is the Redeem button greyed out?
A: The customer has used every visit that benefit allows for this period, or in total. The button shows how many they've used, for example Used 2/2.
