The mobile app lets you build a flat glass bid while you walk the building. You add each window as you go, and the running total updates from the real saved numbers. Once the bid is awarded, you turn it into a project and run it from your phone: status, crew schedule, daily reports, and a quick check that your certificate of insurance (COI) is on file.
Who can use it
Open it from the round button at the bottom of the app: Go to → Sales → Flat Glass. The tile is shown to people with sales or manager access. Anyone else sees "Flat Glass is sales/manager-only."
Two permissions control what you can do inside:
- Manage pricing lets you start a bid and add, edit or remove lines and windows. Owners, Admins and Managers have it by default.
- Record payments lets you submit, award or decline a bid and start the project. By default only Owners and Admins have it. Everyone else sees "An owner or admin needs to submit or award this bid."
Walk a building and build the bid
- On the Flat Glass screen, stay on Bids and tap the + button.
- Customer: search by name or phone, or tap New customer.
- Building: pick one of that customer's buildings, or tap New building and fill in Building name, Address, Building type and Access method, then Save building.
- Details: enter a Bid title, Crew size and Estimated days, then tap Start walking the building.
- Openings: tap Add a line (floor / elevation). Give it a Label, pick a Film, enter the Price per sqft ($), and tap Add line.
- On that line, tap Add window. Enter Width (in), Height (in) and Qty, pick a Window type, then tap Add window again to save it. Tap Done when the line is finished.
To measure a window from a photo instead of a tape, tap Measure it with your camera. See Measuring a window from a photo on mobile.
How the price adds up
Each window's square footage is rounded up to the next half square foot, with a 4 sqft minimum per pane. That's why the preview says "billable sqft is computed on save." The line total is billable sqft times your price per sqft. The Running total at the top is the bid's saved total.
A line with no windows bids at $0. The app warns you and won't submit the bid until every line has at least one window.
Submit, award or decline
At the bottom of the walk you can tap Save as draft or Submit bid. Submit bid only appears if you have Record payments.
Open any bid from the Bids list to see its lines. From there you can Edit a line's label, sqft, $/sqft, Access $ and notes, or Remove it. Under Actions:
- A draft bid shows Submit bid.
- A submitted bid shows Awarded and Declined. Declined first asks "Why did we lose this bid? (optional)". Tap Confirm decline to save it, or Keep bid open to back out.
- An awarded bid shows a Project name field and Start project. This creates the project at the bid's total and marks the bid Converted.
Run the project
Switch the Flat Glass screen to Projects and tap a project. Installers can open a project too, so the crew can log their own work.
- Update status: tap PLANNED, MOBILIZING, IN PROGRESS, QC PUNCH, COMPLETE, ON HOLD or CANCELED. IN PROGRESS records the actual start date. COMPLETE records the end date and sets the project to 100% complete.
- Add crew: pick an Installer, a Work date and Hours, then tap Add.
- Log today: fill in Sqft installed, Crew size, Man-hours, Work completed, and optionally Weather and Blockers, then tap Submit.
Daily reports don't change the percent complete. It stays where it is until you mark the project Complete.
Check your COI before you start
On the Projects view, tap COI Tracker. Open projects are grouped into No COI on file, Expiring within 30 days and Active. Completed and canceled projects are left out. A certificate only counts once a PDF has been uploaded.
The Expiring within 30 days group also holds certificates that have already expired. Check the date on each row. Uploading the PDF and setting the carrier, policy number and expiry date is done on the web app.
Buildings
Tap the buildings icon at the top of the Flat Glass screen to see every building for your shop. You can search the list and tap a building to fix its address or update Floors, Total glass sqft, Window count, Existing glass, Access method and Site notes. Tap Save building when you're done.
For the full desktop workflow, see The Flat Glass module: bids, projects, and buildings.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Why don't I see Submit bid on my phone?
A: Submitting, awarding and declining a bid needs the Record payments permission. By default only Owners and Admins have it. Managers can build the bid and save it as a draft for an owner or admin to submit.
Q: Why does a window bill more square feet than I measured?
A: Each pane is rounded up to the next half square foot, and every pane bills at least 4 sqft. Small transoms and sidelights bill at that minimum.
Q: Can I upload a COI from the mobile app?
A: No. The mobile COI Tracker only shows each project's status. Upload the PDF and set the expiry date on the web app.
