HQ Tint Compliance report: tint law checks and waivers

See, shop by shop, how many tint quotes went over the legal limit or crossed a state line, and how many over-limit jobs have a signed waiver.

4 min read

The Tint Compliance section of HQ Reports shows how each of your tint shops handles tint law. It counts quotes that were checked against the install state's rules, and whether the jobs that needed a waiver got one signed. It needs the HQ add-on.

Where to find it

Open Reports under Insights in the HQ sidebar, then click Detail. Pick Tint Compliance (subtitled "Tint law checks and signed waivers") in the list on the left, or click its tile on the Dashboard view. See Reading HQ Reports beyond the Scorecard for how the page works.

The section only shows if at least one shop you can see sells window tint. The table lists only tint shops. Set the date range at the top of the page. The card is headed Tint Law Compliance by Shop.

The summary strip

Across the whole network for the dates you picked:

  • Checked: quotes that have an install state and a proposed tint shade, so they could be checked against that state's limit.
  • Over limit: checked quotes where the shade is darker than the state allows and a waiver is needed. A job covered by a current medical exemption isn't counted.
  • Cross-state: quotes flagged because the vehicle is registered in a different state and a shade that is legal where it is installed would be illegal where the car is registered.
  • Flagged: Over limit or Cross-state, as a percentage of Checked. It shows a dash if nothing was checked.
  • Waivers signed: of the over-limit quotes, the percentage that have a signed tint waiver.

The shop table

One row per tint shop with Checked, Over limit, Cross-state, Flagged, Waivers needed, Missing and Signed. Missing is the number of over-limit quotes with no signed waiver. It shows in red when it's above zero, so scan that column first.

If no tint quotes were checked in the dates you picked, the card says No tint quotes were checked in this period.

What to do with it

Who sees what

A franchise-level viewer only sees the rows for their own shops. The summary strip counts the whole network.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Why don't I see a Tint Compliance section?

A: It only shows when at least one shop you can see sells window tint. Shops that don't sell tint are left out of the table.

Q: What counts as Over limit?

A: A checked quote whose proposed shade is darker than the install state allows, so a waiver is needed. Jobs covered by a current medical exemption are not counted.

Q: Does this stop a shop from sending an over-limit quote?

A: No. The report only shows what happened. It doesn't block quotes.

Q: Why is Flagged a dash?

A: Nothing was checked in the dates you picked, so there is no percentage to show. Widen the date range.
