The Marketing Fund page in HQ is where you track the National Marketing Fund (NMF): what it's paying for, what it's bringing in, and how much is in it. It has three tabs, Campaigns, Contributions and Claims. This article covers the first two. For claims, see Marketing Fund Claims: submitting and approving reimbursements. It's part of the +HQ add-on.
A shop sees its own side of the fund in Viewing your National Marketing Fund contributions.
Getting there
In the HQ sidebar, click Marketing Fund. The header says where every franchisee's percentage goes. That percentage is your default marketing fund rate from the royalty rule.
The four cards
- Fund balance: marketing fund money collected on paid royalty statements, minus campaign spend and paid claims. Underneath, it shows what's available after approved claims waiting to be paid, or "Available to deploy".
- Contributions (MTD): this month's estimate, with the number of shops.
- Spend (to date): total campaign spend, with the number of active campaigns.
- Leads generated: total leads, with how many were awarded and the spend per lead.
A note below the cards explains why the balance can be lower than this month's contributions. The balance only counts money on paid statements. Contributions (MTD) is an estimate that's billed on the next royalty statement and joins the balance once that statement is paid.
A restricted franchise viewer in a network of 4 or fewer locations sees a dash for the balance, with a note that network totals are hidden.
Logging a campaign
Click New campaign. The button reads Close while the form is open. You need permission to manage marketing campaigns, which org owners and admins have by default.
The form has Name, Channel, Status, Starts, Ends (optional), Budget (USD), Spend to date (USD), Impressions, Leads, Awarded, Creative URL (optional) and Notes.
- Channel is Meta, Google, TikTok, YouTube, Linear TV, Radio, Print, Out of home or Other.
- Status is DRAFT, ACTIVE, PAUSED or COMPLETED.
- Creative URL (optional) must be a full address, such as https://example.com/ad.jpg.
Only the name and start date are required. Click Create campaign. To change one later, click Edit, then Save changes.
Reading a campaign
Each campaign card shows its name, status, channel and dates, with "ongoing" when there's no end date. Four tiles follow: Spend (and the budget), Impressions, Leads with the cost per lead, and Awarded with the cost per award. View creative opens your link, and notes appear underneath.
Lowering a spend amount
A normal edit can only raise a campaign's spend. If a figure was entered wrong, an org owner or admin clicks Correct spend.
- Enter the Corrected spend ($).
- Enter a Reason (required). It can be up to 2,000 characters.
- Click Save correction.
The dialog says this changes the fund balance and that the old amount, the new amount and your reason are saved in the royalty and marketing fund audit log. See Reading the royalty and marketing fund audit log.
Deleting a campaign
The trash icon deletes a campaign after you confirm. A campaign with recorded spend can't be deleted, because its spend has to stay in the fund history. Set it to COMPLETED instead.
The Contributions tab
This month's contributions estimates each shop's share so far this month. The table shows Shop, Gross revenue, % rate and Contribution, with a Total row. Each shop's own rate is used. With no revenue yet, the tab says contributions calculate automatically from each shop's gross.
