The SalesThumb mobile app has a customer side, so the people you do work for can follow their job, approve quotes, pay, and pull up their warranties from their phone. The customer app is included on the Growth and Pro plans. On lower plans, customers still use the web link your shop sends them — the app just isn't available to them.
How customers sign in
There's no password. Customers sign in with the phone number on their customer record:
- They open the app and tap I'm a Customer on the Who's using the app? screen.
- On Customer sign-in, they enter their Phone and, optionally, their Name (it helps match the right account if the same number is on file at more than one shop), then tap Send code.
- They type the 6-digit code from the text and tap Verify & sign in.
If the code doesn't arrive they can tap Resend code, or Edit phone number to fix a typo. The code is good for 10 minutes. For privacy, the app never says whether a phone number is on file — if the number doesn't match a customer, no text is sent. So if a customer says they never got a code, check that the phone number on their customer record is correct.
Once signed in, they stay signed in for up to 30 days.
The Home tab
Home greets the customer by first name and shows your shop's name. It refreshes on its own every 30 seconds, and they can pull down to refresh.
Needs your attention lists what's waiting on them, most urgent first:
- Pay your deposit — an approved quote with an unpaid deposit ("Locks in your booking").
- Invoice — any invoice with a balance, showing the amount due.
- Review quote — quotes you've sent that they haven't approved or declined yet.
If nothing is waiting, they see "You're all caught up — nothing to pay or approve."
Below that, Home shows:
- A job in progress — when a job is underway, a card titled "[job name] is in progress" with a progress bar, the percent complete, and each stage checked off as it's completed.
- Loyalty — their stamp count toward your reward, if you run a loyalty program.
- Upcoming appointments — up to five future appointments with date, time, and status.
Approving a quote and paying a deposit
Tapping a quote opens it inside the app with the vehicle, line items, subtotal, total, and any Deposit required to confirm.
- Approve opens a Sign to approve sheet where the customer draws a signature, prints their full name, and taps Sign & approve.
- Decline opens a sheet with an optional Reason box; they confirm with Decline estimate.
- If a deposit is due, a Pay button shows the deposit amount and opens your shop's payment page inside the app.
See What a customer sees and signs when they approve a quote for the web version of the same flow.
Viewing and paying an invoice
An invoice shows its line items, Total, and Balance due. When there's a balance, a Pay button opens your payment page inside the app. If the customer already signed off on the completed work, a Completion sign-off section shows who signed and when. The bottom of the invoice lists your shop's name, phone, and email under Questions? Contact the shop.
The Garage tab
My Garage lists every vehicle on the customer's record, with year, make, model, color, and plate. For each vehicle it can show:
- A next-service badge — for example "Next inspection due…" or "overdue since…" — based on your warranty inspection and recoat dates.
- Each warranty with its status (Active, Expired, Claim filed, Transferred, or Voided), certificate number, and coverage ("Lifetime coverage" or an expiry date).
- View certificate, which opens the warranty certificate.
If no vehicles are on file, it says vehicles show up once your shop adds one.
The Profile tab
Profile shows the customer's name and your shop's name, plus Help & Support, Delete account (request deletion of their data), Open-source licenses, and Sign out.
If your plan doesn't include the customer app
If your shop is below the Growth plan, customers can't get a sign-in code, and a customer who was already signed in sees Customer app not available, with a note to use the link your shop sends them. Your regular customer portal links keep working — see Customer portal — what customers can self-serve.

Frequently asked questions
Q: Which plan includes the customer app?
A: Growth and Pro. On lower plans customers can't sign in to the app, but the web portal link your shop sends still works.
Q: A customer says they never got their sign-in code. Why?
A: The app only texts a code when the phone number matches a customer on file, and it doesn't say when there's no match. Check the phone number on their customer record. They can also tap Resend code.
Q: Can customers approve quotes from the app?
A: Yes. They open the quote, tap Approve, draw a signature, print their name, and tap Sign & approve. They can also decline with an optional reason.
Q: Can customers pay in the app?
A: Yes. Deposits and invoice balances have a Pay button that opens your shop's payment page inside the app.
Q: How long does a customer stay signed in?
A: Up to 30 days, or until they tap Sign out on the Profile tab.
