+Territory Mapping add-on

Franchise territory mapping, built into your HQ

+Territory Mapping is a $199/mo add-on for franchisors on SalesThumb's +HQ add-on that puts your franchise territories on a live map. You pick or draw each territory by ZIP, county, Census block group, radius or shape, see its Census population and demographics, and turn it into a location report.

The quick version

Territory mapping: Draw and size franchise territories on a live map.

  • Live map of every territory, colored by who owns it: shops, prospects, holds, open and blocked
  • Pick ZIP areas, counties or Census block groups, set a radius, or draw a shape by hand
  • Drive-time shapes (coming soon) from an address or the middle of the map, on the Draw tab (60 per organization every rolling 30 days)
Plans: Territory Mapping add-on See pricingTry it in the Test Drive

It works on the same territory records +HQ already keeps (reserve, award, release, block, deposits and conflict flags), so the map is never a second copy to keep in sync. It's priced per HQ organization, not per shop, and it's set up through sales; there's no self-serve checkout.

A closer look

What +HQ already does, and what +Territory Mapping adds

+HQ already keeps your named territories as a list: ZIP-list territories, name, state, notes and deposit terms, reserve, award, release and block, deposit tracking, and conflict flags. When a reserve or award would overlap another territory already claimed by someone else, +HQ stops it and flags it for an admin to decide, whatever kind of area each one is. That check runs for every +HQ organization. +Territory Mapping adds the map on top of those same records: drawing and picking areas, population and demographics, reports, the Market Scorecard, competitors, and the live overlap warning while you draw.

  • Stays in +HQ: territory list, ZIP lists, reserve / award / release / block, deposits, conflict flags
  • Added by +Territory Mapping: the map, drawing tools, Census figures, reports, scorecard, competitors
  • Franchise Sales and franchise agreements work the same with or without it

Size a market before you sell it

Pick an area and the panel shows its Census population estimate as you go. Suggest a territory proposes a radius or a set of Census block groups sized to the population you want. Find uncovered areas looks across a map view, a set of counties, a state or a metro area, finds the populated Census block groups no territory covers yet, and proposes territories of roughly equal population that you can save as open territories.

  • Population and demographics are Census estimates, and the page labels them that way
  • Suggested and carved territories open in the same picker, so you can adjust them before saving

Location reports a prospect can read

A location report is a PDF that compares an area's median household income, vehicles per household, driving alone to work and home ownership with U.S. averages. Competitor shops you've saved are listed as figures only, never rated. The prospect copy leaves out the summary and ratings and carries a notice that it isn't a financial performance representation. Emailing it to prospects stays off until your HQ owner turns it on after your franchise counsel approves it.

Good to know before you buy

Three parts use Google map services: Find nearby, drive-time shapes, and the map picture on the report PDF. They're included in the add-on, but they aren't switched on for accounts yet. Until they are, add competitors by hand or by bulk paste, draw the area or use a radius, and reports print without the map picture. The live overlap warning compares areas as Census block groups, so treat it as a strong hint to review, not a survey line.

  • Drive-time shapes (coming soon) will be capped at 60 per organization every rolling 30 days
  • Picking areas, population, reports, competitors and the Market Scorecard are for org owners and admins; other members can view the map
  • Requires +HQ; priced per HQ organization, not per shop

Everything it does

The complete list. The plan tag above shows which plans include it.

Map and draw

  • Live map of every territory, colored by who owns it: shops, prospects, holds, open and blocked
  • Pick ZIP areas, counties or Census block groups, set a radius, or draw a shape by hand
  • Drive-time shapes (coming soon) from an address or the middle of the map, on the Draw tab (60 per organization every rolling 30 days)
  • Suggest a territory sized to a target population, or start from a business address
  • A live overlap warning while you draw, across ZIP, county, block-group, radius and drawn territories

Size and research a market

  • Census population and demographics from the American Community Survey 5-year estimates
  • Market Scorecard: ranks open territories by population against the competitors you've mapped, and awarded territories by revenue per resident
  • Competitors: add them by hand or by bulk paste, or use Find nearby (coming soon)
  • Find uncovered areas: the populated Census block groups no territory covers, split into territories of similar population

Reports and paperwork

  • Location report PDF that compares an area's Census figures with U.S. averages
  • A prospect copy you can email: figures and U.S. values only, never an earnings claim
  • Demographics CSV for one territory, or for up to 500 territories at once
  • A legal description of the saved area to paste into an agreement's territory exhibit (not a substitute for legal review)

Who it's for

Built specifically for…

  • Franchisors who sell exclusive territories
  • Franchise development teams sizing markets for prospects
  • HQ admins who manage territories on +HQ today

What it replaces

The old way…

  • Spreadsheets of ZIP codes per territory
  • Looking up Census figures by hand for each prospect's market
  • A separate mapping tool kept in sync by hand with your territory list

Setting it up

  1. 1

    Draw or pick the area

Open New territory and pick ZIP areas, counties or Census block groups, set a radius, draw a shape, or start from a business address (starting from a drive time is coming soon). The panel shows the population estimate and warns about overlap as you go.

  2. 2

    Decide who it's for

Name it, then make it a shop's area, hold it for a prospect, leave it open to sell, or block it. Reserve, award and deposits work exactly as they do on +HQ.

  3. 3

    Research and report

Rank open territories on the Market Scorecard, map competitors, download the demographics CSV, and send a prospect the location report.

What this looks like in a shop

Illustrative scenario: a window tint franchisor keeps its territories as ZIP lists on +HQ. After adding +Territory Mapping, HQ opens Find uncovered areas for one metro area, sees which populated areas no territory covers, and saves three proposed territories as open to sell. When a prospect asks about one, and after the HQ owner turns on prospect reports, the development team emails the prospect copy of its location report, then reserves the territory for that prospect once they're ready.

Good to know

Which plan includes territory mapping?
It's part of the Territory Mapping add-on, which is added on top of the HQ add-on. See the Pricing page for everything in each plan.
What is +Territory Mapping?
It's a $199/mo add-on, per HQ organization, that puts your franchise territories on a live map. You pick or draw areas, see Census population and demographics, and create location reports, a Market Scorecard, competitor lists and demographics CSVs. It's added on top of +HQ.
Do I need +HQ to use it?
Yes. Named territories, reserve, award, release and block, deposits and conflict flags come with +HQ. +Territory Mapping adds the map and the research tools on top of those same territory records.
Does SalesThumb stop two territories from overlapping?
When a reserve or award would overlap another territory already claimed by someone else, it's stopped and flagged for an admin to decide. That check runs for every +HQ organization, across ZIP, county, block-group, radius and drawn territories. +Territory Mapping adds a live overlap warning while you're drawing the area.
Is the location report an earnings claim?
No. It compares an area's Census figures with U.S. averages. The prospect copy shows figures only, no summary or ratings, and carries a notice that it isn't a financial performance representation. Emailing it to prospects stays off until your HQ owner turns it on after your franchise counsel approves it.
Are drive-time shapes and Find nearby available now?
They're part of the add-on, but they depend on Google map services that aren't switched on yet. Until they are, draw the area by hand or use a radius, and add competitors by hand or by bulk paste. Once drive time is on, it's capped at 60 shapes per organization every rolling 30 days.
How do I get +Territory Mapping?
Talk to sales through the Contact page. There's no self-serve checkout for it.
