Reports → Warranty Stats and Reports → Warranty Tier Conversion are two of the three warranty reports on the unified Reports page (`/app/reports`), grouped together in its Warranty category alongside Warranty Claims. Warranty Stats gives you a running headline count of your shop's warranty book — how many are active, expired, and claimed. Warranty Tier Conversion answers a narrower, more useful question: of the customers who were offered a specific warranty tier at kiosk checkout, how many actually ended up with a registered warranty on that tier. Both are built for owners, managers, and anyone else with financial-reports access who wants a read on how the warranty program is performing overall — not for working an individual claim. For that, see PPF warranty claim process, which covers Warranty Claims and the claim-handling workflow.
Where to find them
Go to Reports in the main nav, switch to the Detail view (the toggle next to the page title — Dashboard is what loads by default), and open the Warranty category in the sidebar. Warranty Stats and Warranty Tier Conversion sit there next to Warranty Claims.
The Reports page has one shared Period control pinned above every report — Today, 7 Days, 30 Days, 90 Days, YTD, 1 Year, or Custom. Both warranty reports read that control, but not identically — see below.
Warranty Stats
The card shows four tiles: Total, Active, Expired, and Claimed.
- Total / Active / Expired are counts across every warranty your shop has ever registered.
- Claimed counts any warranty that currently has claim notes on file — the same set of warranties that show up in the separate Warranty Claims report right next to it. That's a narrower thing than it sounds, though: this tile and the Warranty Claims report both track the single notes field you fill in when you manually mark a warranty's status as Claimed from its detail page. That's a different record from the Warranties → Claims queue (reached from the main Warranties page) — see "Things to know" below for how those two diverge.
- These four counts are all-time. The Period selector at the top of the page does not filter them — switching from 30 Days to 1 Year won't change any of the tiles on this card.
Warranty Tier Conversion
The card's own subtitle sums it up: it's "which tier customers pick at kiosk checkout, and how many convert into a registered warranty."
Three summary tiles sit at the top — Offered (period), Registered (period), and Conversion Rate — and these do respond to the Period selector:
- Offered counts how many times a warranty tier was selected on a quote at kiosk checkout during the selected window.
- Registered counts how many warranties were actually registered on that tier during the same window.
- Conversion Rate is registered ÷ offered, shown as a percentage. If nothing was offered on a tier in the period, the rate shows as a dash instead of a percentage — there's no denominator to divide by.
Below the tiles is a per-tier table: Tier, Active, Offered, Registered, Conversion.
- Every tier in your shop's catalog appears — including ones you've disabled, whether or not they have any registrations on record — so a tier with zero activity in the period shows a zero row rather than dropping off the table.
- Active is that tier's current count of active warranties, all-time — it isn't scoped to the Period selector the way the Offered/Registered columns next to it are, so don't read the row as if all four numbers cover the same window.
Things to know
- Both reports require the View financial reports permission (`shop.viewFinancialReports`, in the Financial permissions group). Owner, Admin, and Manager roles have it on by default; Technician, Front Desk, and Service Writer roles don't. Without it, a teammate simply won't see Warranty Stats or Warranty Tier Conversion in the Reports catalog — there's no locked or greyed-out entry, the items aren't in the list at all. An Owner or Admin can turn the permission on for someone in Settings → Team → Permissions — Manager doesn't get access to the Permissions settings by default, so a manager typically can't grant it to a teammate themselves.
- The "Claimed" count on Warranty Stats (and the matching Warranty Claims report) is not the same thing as the Warranties → Claims queue you reach from the main Warranties page. Warranty Stats/Warranty Claims track the notes field you fill in when you manually mark a warranty Claimed from its detail page. The Claims queue is a separate, structured workflow — issue type, description, photos, and a review status — fed by the claim form on a customer's certificate page or by staff filing on a customer's behalf. A warranty can appear as "claimed" in one without having a matching entry in the other.
- Warranty Stats' four tiles are calculated across your shop's entire warranty history regardless of what Period is selected — if you need counts for a specific window, this card won't give you that today.
- Warranty Tier Conversion's "Offered" number only reflects tier selections made during kiosk checkout. It isn't a general count of every quote or upsell conversation that mentioned a warranty tier — just what got recorded on a quote line item at that step.
- Disabling a tier in your warranty catalog doesn't remove it from this table — it keeps appearing with its full Active/Offered/Registered numbers exactly like an enabled tier would, so retiring a tier doesn't erase its history from this report.
Frequently asked questions
What's the actual difference between Warranty Stats and Warranty Tier Conversion? Warranty Stats is a health snapshot of your whole warranty book — how many are active, expired, or claimed, all-time. Warranty Tier Conversion is a funnel metric for one specific window — of the warranty tiers offered at kiosk checkout in that period, how many actually turned into a registered warranty.
Why don't the Warranty Stats numbers change when I switch the date range at the top of the page? They're calculated across every warranty your shop has ever registered, not scoped to the Period selector. The date range control on this card is effectively inert today.
What counts toward "Claimed" on the Warranty Stats card? Any warranty that currently has claim notes on file — the same set of records that appears in the separate Warranty Claims report, where you can see the detail behind that number (customer, vehicle, claim date, reason). It's not the same list as the Warranties → Claims queue, though: that's a separate, structured claim-tracking workflow (issue type, description, photos, review status) fed by a customer's certificate-page claim form or by staff filing on their behalf, not by the notes field this tile counts.
What does "Offered" mean on the Tier Conversion report? It's a count of quote line items where that warranty tier was selected during kiosk checkout, within the period you've chosen — not every conversation where a tier came up, just what was actually recorded on a quote at that step.
Why does a tier show a dash instead of a percentage in the Conversion column? That means nothing was offered on that tier during the selected period, so there's no offered count to divide the registered count by. Widen the date range if you expect that tier to have activity.
Who can see these reports? Anyone with the "View financial reports" permission — Owner, Admin, and Manager roles by default. Other roles need it turned on in Settings → Team → Permissions before either report will show up for them.
