Your shop's phone number has a verification check. SalesThumb texts a 6-digit code to the number saved in your Shop Profile. You type the code back to prove the shop controls that number.
A verified number is how SalesThumb matches texts and missed calls sent to it with your shop. It also counts toward starting a free trial. See Plan and billing.
Only owners, admins and managers can verify the number.
Verify the number
- Go to Settings → Shop Profile. See Setting up your Shop Profile.
- Type your number in Phone and click Save. You must save it first. Until then the page says "Save this number before verifying it."
- Under the field, a Not verified badge shows next to Verify this number. Click it.
- A message says "Code sent to" and a masked copy of your number. The text reads: "Your SalesThumb shop phone verification code is [code]. Enter it in Settings > Shop Profile to confirm this is your shop's number. It expires in 10 minutes."
- Enter the 6 digits in the box and click Confirm.
- The badge changes to Verified and the page says "Phone number verified."
If the text doesn't arrive, click Resend. Only one code is active at a time, and a new code replaces the old one.
Limits
- You can ask for 3 codes in 10 minutes. After that: "Too many codes requested — wait a few minutes and try again." There is also a limit on how many codes can go to one number in an hour.
- You get 5 tries to enter a code. After that: "Too many attempts — request a new code."
- A wrong code says "That code didn't match — try again."
- A code expires after 10 minutes. An old one says "Code expired or not found — request a new code."
Changing the number
If you change the saved phone number, it is no longer verified. Verify the new number the same way. A code only works for the number it was sent to. If the number changed before you confirmed, you'll see "The shop's phone number has changed since this code was sent — request a new code for the current number."
Frequently asked questions
Q: Why does the page say to save the number first?
A: The code goes to the number that is saved, not the one you are typing. Save the field, then click Verify this number.
Q: Who can verify the shop phone number?
A: Owners, admins and managers.
Q: Does changing the phone number remove the verified badge?
A: Yes. Once the saved number changes, it is no longer verified and you need a new code.
Q: How long does the code last?
A: 10 minutes. After that, click Resend to get a new one.
