3 min read

The search bar at the top of the app finds customers, vehicles, quotes and invoices from any page. It is hidden on narrow screens. On a phone, use search in the mobile app. See Global search in the mobile app.

Use it

  1. Click the box, which says Search customers, vehicles, quotes.... Or press / on your keyboard when you aren't typing in a field.
  2. Type at least 2 characters. Results drop down in groups, up to 5 in each.
  3. Click a result to open it. Press Esc to close the list.

If nothing matches, you'll see "No results for" and what you typed.

What each group matches

  • Customers: first name, last name, email or phone. Each word you type has to match somewhere, so "edward b" finds Edward Bravo. A phone number matches however it was typed, with or without dashes or brackets. Each row shows the name and phone. Clicking opens the customer's profile.
  • Vehicles: make, model, plate or VIN. Each row shows year, make and model, and the plate. Clicking opens the owner's customer page.
  • Quotes: by quote number only. Each row shows the number and total.
  • Invoices: by invoice number only. Each row shows the number and total.

To find a quote or invoice by customer, search the customer first.

If you can't see customers' contact details, search finds them by name only. Typing a phone number or email finds no customers, and the phone in each row shows as Restricted.

At HQ

On HQ pages the box says Search customers across all locations.... It shows one group, Customers across all locations, with the shop name beside each person. Clicking a result opens the HQ Customers page on that person. It doesn't search vehicles, quotes or invoices. See Finding a customer or vehicle across locations.

On Franchise Sales pages the bar still searches your shop's customers. It does not search prospects.

Other search shortcuts

Cmd+K (Ctrl+K on Windows) opens the SalesThumb assistant. Cmd+Shift+K (Ctrl+Shift+K) opens the command palette, which jumps to customers, quotes, invoices and pages.
