Your resource library is the list of installers (techs) and bays (physical work stalls) that SalesThumb can assign to appointments. You manage it from Settings → Installers & Bays — the page sums up its own job as letting you "manage who can be assigned to appointments and where work happens."
Installers vs. bays
Installers are techs who show up in the calendar and can be assigned appointments — add one for everyone who actually does the work, even if that's just you. Bays represent physical workspace slots and are called out on the page as optional, for "shops with multiple stalls." If you run a single bay, you can skip creating a bay resource entirely and schedule off installer assignment alone.
Each section shows a running count (Installers / Bays) and lists every resource you've created — active and inactive together — as a card with a colored swatch and the name. Inactive resources get an "Inactive" badge and the whole card is dimmed, but they don't disappear from this page.
Adding a resource
Click Add Resource in the top right. In the dialog:
- Type — Installer or Bay.
- Name — required. Leaving it blank shows an inline "Name is required" error and blocks the save. Placeholder examples are "Mike Rodriguez" for installers and "Bay 1" for bays.
- Color — pick one of eight preset swatches (brand blue, emerald, amber, red, violet, pink, cyan, lime). This is purely visual, for telling resources apart on the calendar — there's no requirement that colors be unique.
- Notes — optional free text.
Click Add Resource to save (it reads "Adding..." while it saves), and the resource shows up immediately in its section.
Deactivating vs. deleting
Hover over a resource card and two icon buttons appear: a power icon and a trash icon.
The power icon toggles Active/Inactive without removing the resource — this is what you use when an installer leaves or a bay goes out of service. It's the safe, reversible action, and it's what the confirm-dialog copy is quietly steering you toward.
The trash icon opens a confirm dialog with the copy: "This will remove the resource from future scheduling. Existing appointments are unaffected." That second sentence is only half true in practice. If the resource has ever been linked to an appointment — past, future, or even cancelled — the delete is blocked outright, with an error telling you the resource "has N appointment(s) on record and can't be deleted — deactivate it instead so it stops appearing in future scheduling." Appointments hold a required, non-null link to their resource, so SalesThumb refuses to delete a resource out from under one rather than leave orphaned records. The trash icon only succeeds on a resource that was created but never actually used on any appointment.
The practical takeaway: once a resource has real history attached to it, Deactivate (the power icon) is your only real "remove" option — the Delete button is effectively reserved for undoing a resource you just added by mistake.
