What it does
Photo → Tint Draft turns a customer's car photos into a priced Good / Better / Best window-tint option in one step. Drop up to 4 shots of the vehicle (front, side, interior, damage), and it identifies the year, make, model, and body type, matches that to one of your shop's own configured tint vehicle-type buckets, and drafts three pricing tiers using your own retail tint catalog — not a generic price list. It's read-only and advisory: nothing is ever saved automatically. The rep reviews the draft and manually builds the quote through the normal quoting flow when they're ready.
Where to find it
This tool lives on the AI Tools hub (`/app/ai`), in the "Sell & convert" section, as the "Photo → Tint Draft" card (currently tagged "New"). There's no dedicated sidebar entry for it, and the AI Tools hub itself isn't in the sidebar rail either — reach it by opening Growth & Marketing from the sidebar (under "Run the shop"), then clicking its AI Assistant tab, which loads the same hub inline (that tab also has an "Open standalone" link straight to `/app/ai`). From there, open the "Photo → Tint Draft" card. Plain Cmd+K opens a different feature ("AI Help," a KB-grounded Q&A popup) — it won't take you here, and the Cmd+Shift+K page-search palette doesn't have this tool registered yet either, so searching its name there won't surface it.
Live mode vs. stub mode
Look at the badge in the top right of the page: "● Live" (green) means SalesThumb's platform-wide `ANTHROPIC_API_KEY` is configured and the vehicle identification is running against a real model call. "● Stub mode" (amber) means that key isn't set — this is a platform-level setting, not something an individual shop configures — so the page still works but returns a realistic placeholder identification instead of reading the actual photo. When you're in stub mode, an amber banner spells this out directly: set `ANTHROPIC_API_KEY` to identify real vehicles — but it also clarifies that pricing is never fake, since the draft always pulls from your shop's own catalog numbers regardless of mode. The "Detected vehicle" card also tags stub-mode results with a small "· stub" note next to the confidence percentage, so nobody mistakes a placeholder ID for a real one.
Running a draft
Drop 1–4 photos into the dropzone, then click "Identify + draft tint" (it's disabled until at least one photo is in and shows "Identifying…" with a spinner while the request is running). The output card on the right fills in with the detected Year / Make / Model / Body, a confidence percentage, and — if a match was found — a badge naming the tint vehicle type it matched to. If the photo can't be analyzed at all, you'll see "Couldn't analyze that photo. Try a clearer shot." instead of results.
When there's no confident match
If the vehicle is detected but doesn't cleanly map to one of your configured tint vehicle types (or confidence is too low to price automatically), the draft card shows "No priced draft yet" along with an explanatory note, plus a row of buttons — one per configured vehicle type — under "Pick the vehicle type." Clicking one re-prices against that type without needing a new photo upload — but note that behind the scenes it still runs a fresh vehicle-identification pass on the same photos each time (it isn't reusing the first detection), so in Live mode every click on a vehicle-type button consumes another AI call, and the detected Year/Make/Model shown could shift slightly between clicks. Separately, if your shop hasn't configured any tint vehicle types and prices at all, there's a persistent tip next to the "Identify + draft tint" button (in the photo panel, not the results panel) pointing you to Sales Matrix settings — it's visible any time no vehicle types are configured, since there's nothing to match or price against until that's set up.
Reading the draft and next steps
A successful match produces three cards — Good (entry option), Better (most popular, visually highlighted), and Best (top performance) — each showing a rounded dollar price and the film label being priced. Below the tiers there's a short notes line and a persistent reminder that this is advisory only: these are your own catalog prices for the matched vehicle type, and nothing gets saved anywhere. To turn a draft into an actual quote, the rep still has to go build it through the shop's normal new-quote flow — this page never writes a quote on its own.
