Active Job Progress report

A snapshot of jobs in the shop right now: how many have progress stages, the average completion, and how many are fully checked off or partway through.

3 min read

The Active Job Progress report is a live count of jobs that use the Job progress stages. The card says "In-flight jobs with stage tracking". You need the permission to view financial reports.

Open the report

  1. Go to Reports and switch to the Detail view.
  2. Find Active Job Progress under Scheduling.

The period buttons don't change it. It always shows the jobs that are in the shop now.

Which jobs count

A job counts when its appointment is Checked in, In progress or Ready for pickup, and it has at least one stage on its Job progress card. A job with no stages isn't counted. See Customer job tracker for how stages are set up.

What each number means

  • Active jobs: jobs that count, as above.
  • Avg completion: for each job, the percent value of its furthest stage that is checked off, averaged across the jobs. A job with no stage checked off counts as 0.
  • Fully staged: jobs where every stage is checked off.
  • In progress: jobs with at least one stage checked off but not all.

A job with no stage checked off is in Active jobs but in neither of the other two, so Fully staged and In progress can add up to less than Active jobs.

How Avg completion matches the job card

Avg completion uses the same number as each job's own Job progress card: the percent value of the furthest stage that is checked off. A job with five stages at 10, 30, 60, 90 and 100 percent and only the first checked off counts as 10 in this report, the same as on its card. Stages that are not checked off don't add anything.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Does the report change with the period buttons?

A: No. It is a snapshot of jobs in the shop right now.

Q: Why isn't my job in Active jobs?

A: The job needs to be checked in, in progress or ready for pickup, and it needs at least one stage on its Job progress card.

Q: How is Avg completion worked out?

A: Each job counts as the percent value of its furthest stage that is checked off, the same number as its Job progress card. The report averages those numbers across the jobs.
