Two small reports answer "what do we work on?" and "where do our customers live?". Vehicle Mix counts the vehicles on file. Customer Geography counts customers by city, ZIP code and state. Both show all-time totals.
You need permission to view financial reports to see either one. Neither follows the date range pills at the top of Reports.
Vehicle Mix
Click Reports in the sidebar, switch to Detail, and open Vehicle → Vehicle Mix. The card says "All vehicles on file (not filtered by the date range)" and has two tables:
- Make, Count and Share: your 15 most common makes. Share is that make's percent of all the vehicles on file, rounded to a whole number. Because only 15 makes are listed, the shares can add up to less than 100%.
- Year and Count: every model year, from newest to oldest. Vehicles with no year are grouped in an Unknown row at the bottom of the list.
It counts vehicle records saved for your shop, not jobs. A vehicle with no make is listed as Unknown, and so is a vehicle with no year. Both are a sign that vehicle details were left blank. See Adding a vehicle to a customer.
Use it to decide which films to stock and which makes your team should know best.
Customer Geography
Open Retention → Customer Geography. The card says "Where your customers come from" and has three tables:
- Top cities: City, Customers and Revenue. It shows the 20 cities with the most customers, with the state next to the city name.
- Top zip codes: Zip, Customers and Revenue, also the top 20.
- By state: State and Customers.
Revenue is what that group of customers has paid your shop over their lifetime, from completed payments after refunds. It is not limited to your date range.
Only customers with an address filled in are counted. A customer with no city is left out of the city table, no ZIP is left out of the ZIP table, and no state is left out of the state table. The empty messages are "No city data", "No zip data" and "No state data".
For mailers and service-area planning, the ZIP Code Density report goes further. See ZIP code density report.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Do these reports use the date range pills?
A: No. Both show all-time totals from the records you have on file, whatever date range is selected.
Q: Does Vehicle Mix count jobs or vehicles?
A: Vehicles. It counts the vehicle records saved for your shop, so a car that came in five times still counts once.
Q: Why are some customers missing from Customer Geography?
A: Only customers with a city, ZIP code or state on their record are counted in that table. Add the address to the customer and they will show up.
Q: What does Revenue mean in Customer Geography?
A: It is the total those customers have paid you over time, from completed payments after refunds, not just the money in your selected date range.
