Team Hub is SalesThumb's own internal staff chat — separate from the customer-facing Inbox and separate from HQ's one-way Announcements broadcast. It lives under Customer flow in the left sidebar, between Workflow and Quick Sale, at /app/team-hub.
The page is two views toggled at the top of the left panel: Channels (chat) and My Tasks (a shop-wide checklist).
The four default channels
The first time anyone at your shop opens Team Hub, SalesThumb seeds four channels automatically: Manager, Sales, Installer, and Marketing. You don't create these — they're always there, and who can see each one depends on role and mobile access, enforced on the server as well as in the menu:
- Manager — visible only to Owner, Admin, and Manager.
- Sales — visible to Owner/Admin/Manager, plus anyone whose mobile access is set to Sales or Both.
- Installer — visible to Owner/Admin/Manager, plus anyone whose mobile access is set to Installer or Both.
- Marketing — visible only to Owner, Admin, and Manager. There's no dedicated marketing role in SalesThumb, so this channel is treated the same as Manager.
If your shop belongs to a multi-location org, a fifth channel appears automatically: HQ. It's a single channel shared by every shop in the org, and it's the narrowest of the five — only the shop's Owner sees it automatically; an Admin or Manager only sees it if they also hold an ORG_ADMIN or ORG_OWNER membership in the org itself. A plain shop Admin role by itself isn't enough.
Front Desk, Service Writer, and Technician roles see whichever of Sales/Installer their mobile access grants them, and nothing else.
Sending messages
Type in the composer at the bottom of a channel and press Enter to send (Shift+Enter for a line break), or click the send button. Messages are capped at 8,000 characters. The thread polls for new messages every 8 seconds while you have a channel open, and the channel list refreshes every 15 seconds so unread badges stay current without a manual reload.
Opening a channel marks it read automatically — there's no separate "mark as read" button.
Pinning a message as an announcement
Hover any message and a pin icon appears. Pinning moves a copy into an amber "Pinned announcements" banner at the top of the thread, visible to everyone who can see that channel — it's the closest thing Team Hub has to a real announcement.
Pinning and unpinning is a manage-level action: by default, Owner, Admin, and Manager can do it (the same permission that gates editing staff roles), and the check is identical whether you're pinning your own message or someone else's. If your shop uses custom permission sets, an owner can grant or remove that ability from a specific person — the default floor stays Owner/Admin/Manager until someone changes it.
My Tasks — a shop-wide list, not a personal one
Despite the tab name, My Tasks shows every open task at the shop, not just tasks assigned to you — each row displays the assignee's name so you can see who owns what. Add a task with a title and an optional assignee picked from your team roster, and it appears immediately. Filter chips across the top (Open, In progress, Done, All) default to Open.
Creating a task, reassigning it, or marking someone else's task done requires the same manage-level access as pinning (Owner/Admin/Manager by default). There's one self-service exception: the person a task is actually assigned to can check it off themselves without needing that permission — that's the normal "I finished my task" flow.
Two doors into the same HQ channel
Org admins and owners have their own HQ-side Team Hub page that opens the exact same HQ channel and the exact same messages a shop Owner sees from inside their shop — it's not a separate conversation, just a second entry point. The HQ-side page is deliberately simpler: one channel, no switcher, and no Tasks tab, since task lists are a per-shop concept.

Frequently asked questions
Q: Who can see the Team Hub link at all?
A: Anyone with any mobile access level can reach Team Hub from the mobile "Go to" panel, and any signed-in shop member can open it on the web — but which channels they see once inside is filtered by role and mobile access.
Q: Can I hide one Team Hub channel from a specific person without changing their role?
A: No. Channel visibility is computed from the person's shop role and mobile access, not a per-person toggle — change one of those two to change what they see.
Q: I'm a shop Admin in a multi-location org — why don't I see the HQ channel?
A: Only the shop's Owner gets the HQ channel automatically. An Admin or Manager needs their own org membership with ORG_ADMIN or ORG_OWNER rights to see it — a shop-level Admin role alone doesn't carry through.
Q: Does pinning a message send a notification to the team?
A: No. Pinning only moves the message into the amber announcements banner at the top of the channel — nobody gets an email, SMS, or push notification when something is pinned.
Q: Is Team Hub the same thing as the HQ Announcements page?
A: No. Announcements is a one-way broadcast from HQ to franchisee shops. Team Hub is a separate, bidirectional chat system — different tables, different page, and messages in one don't appear in the other.
Q: Can I remove Team Hub from the sidebar for staff who don't need it?
A: Not from the Customize sidebar screen. Team Hub is one of the rail items — along with Invoices, Products, and Settings — that doesn't have a hide toggle there.
