Every shop on SalesThumb has a built-in way to send new business SalesThumb's way: the Refer a shop page. You'll find it two places — the Growth hub (its own card, "Refer a shop") and your account/avatar menu in the top right of the app. Both link to the same page.
This article covers how your referral link works, what the shop you refer actually experiences, when your reward shows up, and how this self-serve program is different from SalesThumb's separate, invite-only Affiliate Program.
Getting your referral link
You don't request a code or wait for one to be generated. Every shop already has a referral link, built from your shop's own slug (the short identifier already in your shop's URLs). Open Refer a shop and you'll see it filled in automatically, something like:
`salesthumb.com/?ref=your-shop-slug`
From there you can copy the link with one click, or use the built-in Email and Text message buttons, which pre-fill a short message with your link already in it for you to send as-is or edit.
What the shop you refer actually sees
The link takes the person you refer to SalesThumb's public site with your shop's handle tagged onto the end. They do not need to enter a referral code anywhere in signup — there's no code-entry field in the flow.
Here's the part worth knowing: that `?ref=` tag in the link is not read automatically anywhere in the signup process today. Nothing behind the scenes matches it to your shop or starts a tracked attribution record. In practice, that means the link identifies you when someone opens it and reads the URL, but signing up doesn't automatically connect the new shop's account back to you.
Because of that, ask whoever you refer to simply mention your shop's name when they sign up. That's what lets the reward actually get applied to your account.
The reward, and when you get it
Two rewards are described on the Refer a shop page:
- You get a $50 credit for each shop you refer that signs up and starts paying — with no cap on how many referrals you can be credited for.
- They get a free month of the Pro plan, with no card required to start.
The important nuance is timing and process. Since there's no automated tracking behind the referral link, your $50 credit isn't applied the instant someone clicks your link or even the instant they sign up — it's applied by hand by a SalesThumb team member, after the referred shop has signed up, started paying, and mentioned who referred them. There's no fixed countdown or automatic trigger; it depends on the referred shop actually naming you and someone processing that credit manually.
Where to check the status of shops you've referred
There currently isn't an in-app tracker, leaderboard, or referral-history list showing the shops you've referred or the credits you've earned. The Refer a shop page intentionally doesn't show any referral count or stats, because there's no automated attribution ledger behind the self-serve link to pull numbers from.
If you want to confirm a $50 credit was applied for a specific referral, reach out to SalesThumb support and mention the referred shop's name — that's the same detail the referred shop needs to give at signup for the credit to be applied in the first place.
Refer a shop vs. the Affiliate Program
These are two different programs — don't mix them up:
- Refer a shop (this article) is the informal, self-serve option every shop already has. Anyone can share their link, the reward is a flat $50 credit applied manually per paying referral, and there's no dashboard, custom code, or ongoing commission involved.
- The Affiliate Program is a separate, invite/curated program. It's for partners who want a personalized referral code and an ongoing commission split (rather than a one-time credit) — up to 30% recurring, per the current offer shown on the Refer a shop page. It isn't something you sign up for on your own; you request it by emailing info@roffik.com. Once you're accepted as an affiliate, your activity is tracked and paid out by SalesThumb's team through a separate process, not through the shop-slug link described above.
If you're referring the occasional shop owner you know, Refer a shop is the right tool. If you're regularly sending SalesThumb new customers and want a real, trackable commission relationship, ask about the Affiliate Program instead.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to generate a referral code? No. Your referral link is created automatically from your shop's slug — just open Refer a shop (Growth hub or the account menu) and copy it.
Does the shop I refer need to enter a code when they sign up? No. There's no code field in signup. Ask them to mention your shop's name when they sign up instead, since that's what lets the credit be applied to your account.
When exactly does my $50 credit get applied? There's no automatic timer or trigger. Because the referral link isn't tracked automatically behind the scenes, a SalesThumb team member applies the $50 credit by hand once the referred shop has signed up, started paying, and mentioned who referred them.
Can I see a list of shops I've referred or credits I've earned? Not currently. There's no in-app referral tracker or stats view for this program. Contact SalesThumb support and mention the shop you referred if you need to confirm a credit was applied.
How is Refer a shop different from the Affiliate Program? Refer a shop is a flat, manually-applied $50 credit anyone can use right away. The Affiliate Program is a separate, invite-only arrangement with a personalized referral code and an ongoing commission (up to 30% recurring) that you apply for by emailing info@roffik.com.
