Receiving film and restocking items from your phone

Check stock value on the mobile Inventory screen, receive a film roll as you unbox it, and restock items that are short.

4 min read

The Inventory screen in the SalesThumb mobile app shows what your stock is worth and which items are short, and lets you log new stock as you unbox a delivery. You can receive a film roll, restock a low item in two taps, and jump to your item catalog and suppliers. Inventory is part of the Growth plan and up.

Opening Inventory

Tap the round thumb button to open Go to, then tap Inventory under Operations. You need permission to manage inventory, which owners, admins and managers have by default. Without it you'll see "Manager access needed". If your plan doesn't include inventory, the screen says "Inventory isn't enabled".

Reading the summary

The top card shows Inventory value, split into film and items. Under it you'll find Active rolls with the inches left, Low stock, Items with how many are over par, and Out of stock.

Reorder alerts lists everything at or below its threshold. Each row shows the name, how many are on hand, the threshold, and how many you're short. If nothing is low, you'll see "Everything's stocked above its threshold." To change thresholds, see Setting reorder point email alerts.

Receiving a film roll

  1. Tap Receive film roll.
  2. Pick the Film product. If the list is empty, add your film products on the web first.
  3. Enter the Length (inches), or tap 100 ft, 60 ft or 40 ft. 100 ft is 1200 inches.
  4. Optionally add the Width (inches), the Cost ($) and the Roll # from the box label.
  5. Tap Receive roll.

The length must be a whole number of inches, and the width must be 120 inches or less.

Restocking from an alert

Tap Restock on a reorder alert.

  • For a film roll, the Receive film roll sheet opens with that product already picked.
  • For an item, the Restock item sheet opens with Quantity received filled in with how many you're short. Change it if needed and tap Add to stock.

Item catalog and suppliers

Tap Item catalog to search, scan, add and edit inventory items. See Scanning inventory barcodes with the mobile app. Tap Suppliers to see your vendors. Purchase orders and stock limits are set on the web. For the web side of rolls, see Receiving and tracking film rolls.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Why is the film product list empty when I receive a roll?

A: Rolls are received against your film products, and none have been added yet. Add your film products on the web first, then try again.

Q: How much does Restock add for an item?

A: It starts with how many you're short of the threshold. You can change the quantity before you tap Add to stock.
