Blast Composer in the mobile app sends one SMS or email to a whole customer segment, such as everyone who hasn't been in for 90 days. You pick who, write the message, preview the recipients, and send. For campaign ideas, see Setting up your shop's first marketing campaign.
To open it, tap the round thumb button at the bottom of the screen, then Blast Composer under Marketing.
Who can use it
You need automations permission. Managers have it by default, and your owner can grant it to others. Without it the screen says "Blast access needed." If bulk messaging isn't included in your shop's plan, the screen says so and the form stays hidden.
Build the blast
- Pick a Channel: SMS or Email.
- Pick a Segment: All customers, New (30d), High LTV, Just completed, Quiet 90+ days, Quiet 6+ months, Churned (1y+) or Replied to playbook. A short hint under the chips explains who's in it.
- For email, enter a Subject.
- Write the Message. The app fills in a starter message for the segment, and swaps it when you change segments, until you type your own.
- Use {firstName} to put each customer's first name in.
For SMS, a counter shows your characters and how many segments the text uses. Over 160 characters bills as multiple segments, and the app warns you when a text gets long.
Check the recipients
Recipients shows how many customers match, and lists the first eight with their phone number (SMS) or email. If nobody matches, you'll see "No customers match this segment" and the buttons stay off.
Test first
Tap Test. The banner says how many recipients would get the message and that nothing was sent or saved. No customer is contacted.
Send
Tap Send to and the number of recipients. The app asks you to confirm and warns that the messages go out immediately and can't be recalled. For SMS it shows a cost estimate.
After a send, the banner shows how many went out, how many were skipped or failed, and how many were held for quiet hours. SMS goes out between 8am and 8pm in the customer's own time. Texts outside that window are held and go out at 8am for them.
If a customer already got the maximum number of marketing texts in a day, they're skipped and the banner says so.
