A corporate store, one of HQ's own locations, pays no HQ fees by default. The HQ Owner decides which fees it pays, one switch at a time. Rates aren't set here. A store that is charged uses its normal royalty rule, which is its own rule if you made one for it and otherwise your organization default. To mark a location first, see Marking a location as an HQ corporate store.
Open the fee switches
- Switch to your HQ view and open Locations, then the Hierarchy tab.
- On the corporate store's row, click Fees.
- The dialog Fees for [location] opens. It says a corporate store pays no HQ fees unless you turn them on, and that changes apply to the next royalty statement or HQ fee. Statements already issued are not changed.
- Turn on the fees you want and click Save. You see "Corporate store fees saved".
Only the HQ Owner can do this. The change is recorded in the HQ Audit Log (HQ sidebar, under Admin, owner only) as "SET CORPORATE STORE FEES", with the before and after settings. It doesn't appear in the Royalty audit log.
What each switch covers
- Royalty covers the royalty, the technology fee and the rule's recurring other fee.
- Marketing fund covers the marketing fund and the local-marketing requirement from the same rule.
- One-off HQ fees covers training, events, late fees and other fees you charge from HQ Fees.
What happens on statements and fees
- All three off. The store gets no royalty statement, and it isn't flagged as missing a royalty rule.
- Royalty off, something else on. The store still gets a statement, as long as a royalty rule applies to it. Royalty, technology fee and the recurring other fee show as zero, and whatever is switched on stays.
- Marketing fund off. The fund and the local-marketing requirement read as zero, and the store adds nothing to the marketing fund totals.
- One-off HQ fees off. You can't charge the store a new one-off fee. If you pick it in a multi-location charge, the whole request is refused with "HQ fees are turned off for a corporate store you selected. Turn them on for that store in HQ > Locations first, or leave it out." Remove the store from the list, or turn the switch on.
- A one-off fee that already exists. If it is still open when you switch HQ fees off, the store can't pay it. The store sees "This fee was withdrawn by HQ." It stays open until you void it. See Charging your locations one-off fees from HQ. A fee that is not yet on a statement is left off the next statement, and one already on a statement stays there.
What the corporate store sees for its own royalty rule matches: zero for any part switched off, and no rule when everything is off.
Timing
A change applies to the next royalty statement generated or HQ fee charged. Statements already issued keep their amounts. If an open statement isn't wanted any more, handle it like any other statement. See Issuing royalty credits and extra charges to a shop.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Which HQ fees does a corporate store pay by default?
A: None. Royalty, marketing fund and one-off HQ fees all start off, and you turn on each one you want.
Q: Who can change a corporate store's fees?
A: Only the HQ Owner. The change is recorded in the HQ Audit Log, which only the Owner can open.
Q: If I turn royalty off, will the store still get a statement?
A: Yes, if another fee is switched on. The royalty parts show as zero. If all three switches are off, there is no statement.
Q: Do my changes rewrite statements I already issued?
A: No. They apply to the next royalty statement or HQ fee.
Q: Why can't I charge a one-off fee to a corporate store?
A: Its one-off HQ fees switch is off. Turn it on under Fees for that store, or leave the store out of the charge.
