The AI Discovery Day briefing lives on the Discovery Days calendar, in the franchise-sales side of the app (the page that groups upcoming in-person franchisee visits by date, with a prep checklist on each prospect's card). For one prospect at a time, it takes their real prep-checklist status, recent validator-call and document history, and recent activity notes, and returns a short written narrative — a few plain-language sentences summarizing what to emphasize with that specific prospect and what prep is still outstanding. It's read-only: generating a briefing never changes anything on the prospect's record. The checklist itself is only ever updated by clicking its own chips directly, a separate action from the briefing.
Generating a briefing
Each upcoming visit shows as a card with the prospect's name, rating, and a row of prep-checklist chips: FDD delivered, Agenda emailed, Intro call complete, Validator calls scheduled, and Travel confirmed. Three of those chips (Agenda emailed, Intro call complete, Travel confirmed) are clickable to mark or un-mark them; FDD delivered and Validator calls scheduled stay read-only there because they're driven by other flows elsewhere in the app.
Below the checklist is a "Prep briefing" button. Clicking it for the first time both fetches a briefing and expands the card to show it — you'll see a brief "Assembling prep briefing…" state while it runs. Once loaded, clicking the button again just shows or hides the same result instead of asking for a new one, so casually toggling the card open and closed doesn't burn another AI call. If you actually want a fresh read (say, after logging a new activity note or completing another checklist item), there's a separate "Regenerate" link that explicitly reruns it.
What the briefing draws on
The narrative is built only from records that already exist for that prospect: their profile basics (rating, territory interest, budget, lead source, deal odds, and the scheduled Discovery Day date), the same five-item checklist shown on the card (including the date each item was completed, where applicable), their most recent validator calls and outcomes, recent documents and whether each was sent or signed, and recent activity/notes entries. When a validator call is on record, the card also lists the validator's name and status underneath the narrative itself. If a prospect doesn't have much history yet, expect the briefing to say so directly rather than stretch thin records into something that sounds more substantial than it is — it only writes from what's actually on file for that prospect, not from a guess.
Things to know
- Plan requirement: available to any franchise organization with the Franchise Sales / CRM add-on enabled — that's the only requirement, whether or not the org also holds a separate HQ or Enterprise plan. It isn't part of the shop-level plans.
- Stub mode: if the workspace doesn't have `ANTHROPIC_API_KEY` configured (or the org is over its AI usage allowance), you still get a result — a plain, deterministic summary built from the checklist counts, like how many of the five items are done and which ones remain. A small note under the button — "Stub mode — set ANTHROPIC_API_KEY for an AI-written briefing" — tells you when you're looking at that fallback rather than a real written narrative.
- It doesn't touch the checklist. The briefing only narrates the checklist's current state; marking an item done or undone still has to happen by clicking that item's chip directly.
- Only recent history is pulled in. The briefing looks at the prospect's most recent validator calls, activities, and documents rather than their entire history, so very old records may not show up in what it references.
- A failed generation reverts the card. If the request errors out, the card falls back to showing the plain "Prep briefing" button again rather than getting stuck in a loading or half-open state.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Does generating a briefing change anything on the prospect's record?
A: No. It only reads the prospect's existing checklist status, validator calls, documents, and activity notes to write a summary — it never marks a checklist item, schedules anything, or edits the prospect's file.
Q: Where do I find this?
A: On the Discovery Days calendar page, on each upcoming visit's card, below the prep checklist.
Q: What plan do I need for this?
A: The Franchise Sales / CRM add-on enabled for the organization — that's the only requirement, whether or not you also hold a separate HQ or Enterprise plan. It isn't available on the shop-level plans.
Q: What does "Stub mode" mean here?
A: It means the workspace doesn't have real AI output turned on (or the org has hit its usage allowance), so you're seeing a plain, automatically-built summary of the checklist counts instead of a written narrative. The card tells you when this is the case.
Q: Does clicking "Prep briefing" again generate a new one every time?
A: No. Once a briefing has loaded, clicking the button again just shows or hides it without asking for a new one. Use the separate "Regenerate" link if you want a fresh briefing.
Q: Can I mark checklist items done from the briefing panel?
A: No. The briefing is read-only. Marking Agenda emailed, Intro call complete, or Travel confirmed happens by clicking those checklist chips directly on the card (FDD delivered and Validator calls scheduled aren't editable there at all — those come from other flows in the app).
