Once a conversation with a customer runs long, SalesThumb adds a small AI-generated recap above the messages so you can catch up without reading the whole thread. Here's what it is, where to find it, and how to read the priority badge on it.
When it shows up
The summary card only appears once a conversation has racked up 8 or more messages total — counting everything sent in both directions, not just what the customer wrote. Shorter threads don't get one, there's no button to force it on early, and there's nothing to configure. Once a thread crosses that line, the card just appears the next time you open it.
Where to actually find it
This is the part people miss: SalesThumb opens a conversation scrolled to the bottom, showing the newest message first, the same as any texting app. The summary card sits above the very first message in the thread — so on a long conversation it's scrolled out of view until you scroll all the way back up to the top. If you open a qualifying thread and don't see the card, scroll up before assuming it isn't there.
What's on the card
At the top: a small sparkle icon, the label "AI summary," and how many messages it's summarizing — for example "AI summary · 12 messages." On a very long-running thread, that count and the recap itself are based on your most recent 40 messages, not the entire history.
Below that:
- A 1-2 sentence recap of what the conversation actually covers — SalesThumb reads the thread itself rather than showing a generic template.
- A priority badge in the top-right corner (see below).
- A line starting with "Suggested next:" — one short suggestion for what to do about the thread. It's plain text, not a button — clicking it doesn't do anything and it doesn't fill in a reply for you.
Reading the priority badge
The badge in the corner of the card is one of three states:
- Low priority — gray.
- Normal — blue. This is also what shows if SalesThumb can't confidently tell one way or the other.
- Urgent — red. Reserved for threads where the customer sounds unhappy, missed an appointment, or is waiting on a same-day answer — not just "this conversation got long." A chatty back-and-forth about scheduling options won't automatically turn urgent just because it hit message 8.
Which plans include it
Every plan. This card isn't gated behind Growth or Pro the way the AI-drafted reply wand icon in the compose bar is — if your shop has AI features working at all, the summary card works too, on any tier.
If the recap looks generic
Every so often you'll open a long thread and the recap reads as vague boilerplate instead of something specific to that conversation. That means the AI call behind the card didn't complete — most commonly because your shop has used up its monthly AI allowance for the month. It isn't a bug and it isn't a sign your plan doesn't include this feature; see the AI Booster article below for what that allowance is and how to add more if you're hitting it regularly.

Frequently asked questions
Q: Why don't I see an AI summary on this conversation?
A: It only appears once a conversation has 8 or more messages combined between you and the customer — there's no setting to turn it on for shorter threads. If the thread does qualify, scroll to the very top of the conversation: SalesThumb opens threads scrolled to the newest message at the bottom, and the summary card sits above the very first message.
Q: What makes a conversation show as "Urgent" instead of "Normal"?
A: SalesThumb reserves the red Urgent badge for threads where the customer seems unhappy, missed an appointment, or is waiting on a same-day answer. Length alone doesn't trigger it — most long threads land on the blue "Normal" badge.
Q: Does clicking "Suggested next" do anything?
A: No. It's plain text, not a button — a one-line suggestion for what to do next, not something that drafts a reply or takes an action for you.
Q: Do I need a specific plan to see the AI summary card?
A: No. Unlike the AI-drafted reply wand icon in the compose bar, which is Growth plans and up, the AI summary card is available on every plan.
Q: Why does the summary sometimes read generic instead of specific to the conversation?
A: That means the AI call behind the card didn't complete, most often because your shop's monthly AI allowance is used up for the month. See "AI Booster: extra AI credit when you hit your monthly allowance" for how that allowance works and how to add more.
