This tool is on the Services page under Settings. In the services table, any service that doesn't have a description yet shows a small AI · Write description link instead, as long as your shop can get AI descriptions right now. Click it and AI drafts a short customer-facing description for that service, using only what's on the service record (its name, category, price and duration) plus your shop's name and the services you're set up for. AI descriptions are on the Growth plan and up, and your shop needs some AI allowance left for the period. If your shop can't get them, the link is hidden and a note at the top of the page says why (see below). The draft is a preview only. Nothing is saved until you click Apply.
Drafting and reviewing a description
Click AI · Write description next to a service that's missing one. A small spinner shows while the draft is written. When it's ready, the text appears in a preview box with three buttons: Apply, Discard and Regenerate. Discard clears the draft without saving. Regenerate asks for a new draft. If a new draft can't be written, a short note appears under the buttons and the draft you already have stays in the preview.
Applying a draft
Clicking Apply saves the text into the service's description, the same way as editing the service by hand. It needs the same "manage pricing" permission as editing a service's price or name. Owners, admins and managers have it by default; technicians, front desk and service writers don't. Anyone can generate a draft, but only people with that permission can save it.
The link only shows next to services with a blank description, so this fills in missing descriptions rather than rewriting ones you already have.
When AI can't write a description
If your shop isn't on the Growth plan or up, or has used its AI allowance for the current period and has no AI Booster credits left, the AI · Write description link is hidden. While at least one service is missing a description, an amber note at the top of the Services page says AI-written descriptions are off for your shop, gives the reason, and reminds you that you can still type a description yourself with Edit.
Sometimes the page can't tell ahead of time, for example if the check hasn't loaded yet or your allowance runs out after the page opened, so the link can still show. If you click it and AI can't write a draft, a short note under the link explains that nothing was written. In that case you don't get a draft preview, an Apply button or any filler text, and the service isn't changed.
Things to know
- Plan: Growth plan and up. On lower plans the AI · Write description link is hidden, and the note at the top of the Services page says AI isn't included on your plan.
- It uses your shop's AI allowance. If your shop has used its AI allowance for the current period, the link is hidden and the note at the top of the page says so, until the next period or until you add AI Booster credits.
- No placeholder text. If AI can't write a real description for your shop, you're never offered stand-in text to apply, only a note saying why. Anything that shows up in the draft preview was written by AI, so read it before you apply it.
- It only uses what's on the service. The draft should only reflect details you've already entered, not a price, turnaround time or warranty claim that isn't on the service.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Does the AI-written description get saved automatically?
