New Mexico requires film on the front side windows, rear side windows and rear window to be nonreflective with at least 20% light transmission, on a vehicle with outside mirrors on both sides; some vehicle classes, including multipurpose passenger vehicles, are exempt from the 20% figure behind the driver. Windshield film may cover only the top, down to the ASI line or 5 inches, whichever is closer to the top. Each tinted window needs a permanent film label. A physician's or optometrist's affidavit allows darker film.
