Texas window tint rules

Texas requires 25% or more VLT and 25% or less reflectance on the front side windows (glass plus film), allows any darkness on rear side windows, and allows any darkness on the rear window only if the vehicle has an outside mirror on each side showing 200+ feet of highway to the rear (without both mirrors DPS calls for 25% or more VLT on the rear window). Windshield: 25% or more VLT and 25% or less reflectance, not red, blue or amber, and not below the AS-1 line or more than 5 inches from the top, whichever is closer to the top. Medical exception: darker tint is allowed on all windows except the windshield if the driver or an occupant carries a signed statement from a licensed physician or optometrist.
