Manifold OS is a solid generalist platform — built by 1sixty8 for mobile enhancement stores, service shops, and dealerships broadly. But it's not built for appearance-protection work specifically: no native VLT tracking, film roll inventory, or branded warranty certificates, and no customer-facing quoting kiosk like SalesThumb's Sales Matrix. Shops whose core business is tint, PPF, ceramic, or detail end up working around a generalist data model instead of using one built for the trade.

Depends on what you need. Manifold's Build-your-own tier starts at $80/mo for one Standard module (Service, Communications, Reputation Management, Wholesale, or Team Hub), scaling down to $50/mo each once you're running 4+ — but Point of Sale (invoicing, payments, inventory) is a separate $199.99/mo module. Stack enough modules and you're near Manifold's $449.99/mo All-in bundle (all 5 Standard modules + POS Premium, unlimited users, per location). SalesThumb starts at $199/mo flat (Starter, 5 seats included) with CRM, booking, quotes, invoicing, and Connect payments already bundled in — no separate POS module to add. At the low end, Manifold's single-module price is cheaper; once you need a real toolkit, the two land in a similar range, with SalesThumb Growth ($399/mo, 10 seats) and Pro ($599/mo, unlimited seats) adding AI features as you scale that Manifold doesn't have.

Not yet in a franchise-grade way. Manifold's own FAQ lists multi-location as "coming soon," and it currently has no multi-location rollup dashboard, no franchise-style HQ (org over shops), and no centralized catalog/pricing push. Plan for the catalog rebuild to be the long pole — since Manifold's module structure is generalist rather than appearance-protection-specific, there's no clean 1:1 import for film rolls, VLT tracking, or warranty tiers. Multi-location chains take longer than a single shop, since each location's catalog needs the same rebuild. Running both platforms in parallel for about a week before cutting over is the safest path.

A few real things: a Wholesale module built for B2B dealer accounts (invoicing, payment terms, finance charges), a built-in Team Hub for internal chat, task lists, and announcements with read receipts, and platform-wide custom fields for adapting record types to your own workflow. It's also built by an operator who ran Mobile Edge for 30 years, so the generalist workflows are field-tested, not theoretical. If wholesale/dealer business or built-in team communication tooling matters more to you than appearance-protection-specific workflows, Manifold is a legitimate choice.
