Where the switcher actually lives
Everything for moving between a location, your HQ rollup, and (if you sell franchises) your Franchise Sales pipeline lives in one place: the pill at the top of the left-hand sidebar. There's no separate switcher in the top header bar — that's intentional. SalesThumb used to show a picker in both the header and the sidebar, and it caused confusion about which one people had actually clicked, so the header version was removed. Location and HQ switching now happens only through the sidebar pill.
Switching locations from a shop view
When you're inside a single location — Calendar, Customers, Quotes, Invoices, and so on — click the pill at the top of the sidebar. It shows an icon, a small label (Location or Franchise Sales, depending on what you're currently viewing), the name of that location or org, and a chevron.
Click it and a dropdown opens, top to bottom:
- Multi-Shop HQ — one row per HQ organization you belong to, each showing the org name. Click one to open that org's HQ dashboard.
- Franchise Sales — one row per org you belong to that has franchise-sales access set up, for the pre-award pipeline/CRM. Note this list on the shop-view switcher isn't filtered by org type the way the HQ-view one is, so it's possible to see an org listed here that isn't formally set up as a Franchise-type org.
- Locations — every shop you're a member of (the header reads "Locations · [count]" once you have more than one). The shop you're currently in is checked and highlighted; click any other shop to switch into it. If you belong to 4 or more shops, a "Find a location…" search box appears above the list so you can filter by name, city, or state. Next to the "Locations" header itself (not at the bottom of the list) is a "View all" link that jumps to the rollup at My Locations — worth knowing since it's easy to miss up there.
Clicking your current shop again is a no-op — it just takes you back to that shop's dashboard.
Jumping into the HQ dashboard
From that same sidebar dropdown, click a row under Multi-Shop HQ. That takes you straight to your org's HQ dashboard.
The switcher looks different once you're inside HQ — and that's expected
Once you're inside HQ (any page under `/app/hq/{yourOrgId}/…`), the whole sidebar changes with you — it swaps to a dedicated HQ nav (Locations, Users, Customers, Vehicles, KPIs, Reports, and the rest of the HQ-only sections). The switcher pill at the top changes too: instead of the colored badge you saw in the shop sidebar, you'll now see a fixed amber crown icon, your org's name, and a small "HEADQUARTERS" label underneath it.
This is a genuinely different pill from the one you use in a shop view, not just a re-skin — it's built to always identify "you're in HQ," rather than swap badges the way the shop-view pill does. Click it and the dropdown that opens is organized a little differently too:
- Headquarters — your org, with a badge showing whether it's a Franchise or a Multi-location org, and a subtitle reading "HQ dashboard." Below that org row is a separate "View all locations" link that opens the full HQ Locations page (list, hierarchy, and map).
- Franchise Sales — your franchise-sales org, if you have one.
- Locations — every shop you belong to, each showing its address (or "Add address in settings" if none is on file yet). If you have more than one shop, there's a second "View all locations" link here too — this one opens the My Locations rollup dashboard rather than the HQ Locations page.
- A footer row that the shop-view dropdown doesn't have: "Add new location" if you already have an HQ org, or "Upgrade to HQ" if you don't yet.
So: the same three destinations — HQ, Franchise Sales, Locations, in that order — are reachable from either sidebar, but the trigger pill and some of the details (labels, badges, subtitles, that footer row) are different depending on whether you're standing in a shop view or already inside HQ. They're not the same dropdown wearing different clothes; they're two switchers built for two different contexts.
Switching into Franchise Sales
If your account sells franchise units, the same dropdown (from either sidebar) has a Franchise Sales row. Click it to open the pipeline/CRM for that org — kept separate from HQ so sales-only staff can be given access without also seeing location management or HQ financials.
Tips
- The dropdown always reflects where you currently are — your active shop, HQ org, or sales org shows a checkmark.
- If you only belong to one shop and have no HQ org, you'll just see that single location listed — the switcher still works as a quick "back to my dashboard" shortcut.
- Address showing "Add address in settings" instead of a real address just means that shop's address fields are empty in Settings — nothing is broken, there's just nothing to display yet.
