Where it lives
In the left rail, Inventory sits in the "Run the shop" section, just below Products — look for the box icon. This is the one page that rolls up everything you can run out of: film rolls, ceramic coatings, PPF and wrap supplies, chemicals, tools, and general shop supplies, all in one place.
The four stat cards
Across the top you'll see four cards. Total value adds up your item stock and your active film rolls into one dollar figure, with a small line underneath showing how many items and rolls make up that total. Film On Hand shows your total remaining film length (in feet/inches) across every active roll. Low stock shows a single count with a breakdown underneath — "X rolls · Y items" — and if you have anything sitting above its max limit, it adds a blue "· N over par" note. Out of stock combines depleted film rolls and out-of-stock items into one number, with a "Reorder now" reminder. The Low stock and Out of stock cards get a colored border (amber and red respectively) the moment their count is above zero, so you can tell at a glance whether anything needs attention without reading the numbers.
Value by category
Below the stat cards, a "Value by category" card breaks down where your money is tied up — window film, coatings, chemicals, tools, and so on — each with an item count, a low-stock count where relevant, and a dollar total. This card only appears once you actually have categorized item stock in at least one category; it's hidden on an empty shop.
Tabs, search, and the View menu
The tab strip (All, Film rolls, Coatings, Detail, PPF / Wrap, Tools, Other) filters the item list below by category — note that the Film rolls tab shows *only* the roll sections, not the generic item list, since rolls are tracked separately from everything else. The search box next to the tabs only searches items, not film rolls, so switching to the Film rolls tab while you have a search term active won't filter the rolls list.
The "View" button opens a popover with genuinely working display preferences: a sort order (Status worst-first is the default, plus Name A–Z, Value high-low, and Stock low-high), a "Low stock only" filter switch, and three column toggles (Show value, Show supplier, Show category tag). A small dot appears on the View button whenever you've changed anything from the defaults, and a "Reset to defaults" link appears inside the popover to snap back. One thing to know: these preferences are saved to your browser's local storage, not to your SalesThumb account — they're per-device (and shared by anyone using that same browser, since they aren't tied to your login), so a different computer or a different browser on the same computer starts back at the defaults. When "Low stock only" is on, a banner appears above the lists as a reminder, with its own Clear link.
Film rolls vs. everything else
On the All and Film rolls tabs you'll see up to two extra cards above the item list. "Film by product" aggregates every physical roll of a given film SKU into one line — VLT% or "PPF" badge, brand and product name, active roll count, and total remaining length — and each row has a small slider-icon button that opens a "Stock limits" dialog where you can set a Reorder point, Par, and Max, all in inches. Leaving any of those three fields blank clears that limit; the icon turns amber once at least one limit is set, so you can see at a glance which film products have a reorder model configured. This card only shows up once you actually have film products with roll data to aggregate — on a shop with no film SKUs yet, you'll just see "Rolls On Hand".
"Rolls On Hand" lists every individual physical roll, each one clickable straight through to that roll's detail page. Each row shows a stock badge — Depleted, Low, Running Low, or In Stock — driven by percent remaining, plus width, received date, cost, and a small progress bar. The "Receive" button at the top of that card (and the "Receive Roll" button on the empty state) both go to the new-roll form.
Item rows and the alert bell
The generic items list (everything except the Film rolls tab) shows one row per item: category icon, brand and name, a status badge (In stock, Low, Out of stock, or Over par — this is computed from the item's reorder point, not just whether it's hit zero), an optional category tag, SKU, on-hand quantity in its natural unit, unit cost, and supplier, with value on the right if that column is turned on. Clicking anywhere on a row opens that item's detail page.
The one control that does *not* navigate you away is the bell icon at the end of each row. That opens a small "Alert threshold" popover where you can set (or clear) the on-hand number that triggers a low-stock email for that specific item — the bell fills in amber once a threshold is armed. Worth knowing before you click it: the "Clear" button inside that popover doesn't delete the threshold, it resets it to 0, which effectively disables the alert without removing it outright. If you want the threshold entry actually gone, use Dismiss on the Alerts page instead.
Finally, the "Add inventory" button in the top-right corner is a dropdown, not a single action — it splits into "Add film roll" and "Add item," then, under a "By category" heading, repeats the film-roll shortcut alongside category shortcuts (Ceramic coating, Detail chemical, Pad / applicator, PPF supply, Tool / equipment) that pre-fill the new-item form's category for you, plus an "Other item…" entry at the bottom for anything that doesn't fit a shortcut. The "Alerts & COGS" button next to it turns solid amber and shows a "X low today" badge whenever you have low-stock items, and takes you to the dedicated alerts page; "Suppliers" takes you to your supplier list.
