What connecting Google Business Profile gets you
Once connected, SalesThumb pulls in your Google reviews so you can read and reply to them without switching tabs, plus a rolling 30-day snapshot of profile views, searches, and calls.
One thing worth being upfront about: connecting itself doesn't touch your live Google listing — syncing, viewing, and the insights numbers are all read-only. The one place that *does* change your public listing is replying. When you post a reply to a review from inside SalesThumb, that reply publishes straight to your live Google Business Profile, exactly as if you'd typed it into Google's own dashboard. So "nothing changes on your listing" is true right up until you hit Post reply — at that point you're publishing something real customers will see on Google.
Before you connect
You'll need to sign in with the Google account that manages your shop's Business Profile listing. Disconnecting and replying to reviews require owner/admin access on your SalesThumb shop. You may still see the Disconnect and Post reply buttons even without that access — SalesThumb doesn't hide them from other roles — but clicking them will return a permission error if you're not an owner or admin. If that happens, ask an owner or admin to do it, or to grant you access.
Connecting Google Business Profile
1. Go to Settings → Integrations. 2. Find the Google Business Profile card and click Connect. 3. You'll be sent to Google's own sign-in and consent screen. Choose the Google account that manages your listing and approve access. 4. If that Google account manages only one location, SalesThumb connects it right away — no extra step. You're dropped back on Integrations with the card showing Connected. 5. If that Google account manages two or more locations, SalesThumb doesn't try to guess which one is yours. You'll land on a "Choose your Google Business location" screen first, listing every location tied to that Google account. Pick the right one and click Use this location to finish connecting. (This picker step only appears for multi-location Google accounts — most single-shop owners never see it.) 6. Either way, the Google Business Profile card now shows a Connected badge, along with the connected Location name and a Last sync timestamp.
Where to read and reply to reviews
There's no "Reviews" item on the main sidebar — reviews live inside the marketing hub, not their own top-level nav entry. From the sidebar, click Growth & Marketing, then click the Reviews card. That opens the Reviews page, where the Google Reviews panel shows everything synced from your connected listing: star rating, reviewer name, and the review text, newest first.
If a review doesn't have a reply yet, you'll see a Reply button and a Draft reply with AI button. Click either one to open an editable text box — from there you'll see Post reply, Draft with AI (or Redraft with AI if you already have a draft), and Cancel. Remember: clicking Post reply publishes that text to your live Google listing immediately — it's not a private note or a draft that sits in SalesThumb.
Each review also has a Feature on my website button. That's a separate, optional step — it copies the review onto your public review wall (managed on the Reviews + reply queue page), which is what actually shows up on your booking page and embed widget. A synced Google review doesn't appear there automatically; you have to feature it.
Your 30-day views, searches, and calls numbers live separately, on the Reports dashboard, in the Google Business Profile insights tile.
A note on reliability
Worth knowing before you rely on this daily: Google has been tightening access to the reviews API that pulls and posts replies (it's an older API, and Google has largely stopped granting new access to it). In practice, that means review syncing and posting replies can occasionally fail with an access error that's on Google's side, not a sign that your connection is broken. Profile insights (views, searches, calls) run on a separate, newer API and aren't affected by this. If you hit a sync or reply error, reviews you've already synced are still there and visible — reconnecting on its own typically won't resolve an access error, so email us if you run into one and we'll help you sort it out.
Reconnecting with a different Google account
Once a connection exists, the Connect button disappears from the card — while connected, you'll only see Sync now and Disconnect. So if you connected the wrong Google account, or need to switch which account or location is linked, there isn't a "just click Connect again" shortcut over an existing connection. Click Disconnect first, then Connect will reappear so you can go through Google's consent screen again with the right account.
Disconnecting
Click Disconnect — it's the outline button next to Sync now, with a red border and red text on a plain background, not a solid red button. Disconnecting does two things: it removes the connection itself, and it deletes the Google reviews that had synced into SalesThumb. It's not just unplugging the link — your synced review data goes with it, so the Google Reviews panel goes back to empty until you reconnect and sync again. (Anything you'd already clicked Feature on my website for is a separate copy on your public review wall and is unaffected by disconnecting.)
