SalesThumb gives you two ways to punch the clock: the Time Clock page in the app (for clocking in from your own computer, and for managers keeping an eye on the whole team), and a PIN kiosk you can leave running on a shared tablet by the door. This guide covers both, plus breaks and time-off tracking.
Where to find the Time Clock
From the sidebar, click Growth & Marketing, then click the Operations tab along the top of that page. You'll see a grid of back-office tools — click the Time clock card to open it.
If you'd rather skip the clicks, press Cmd+K (or Ctrl+K on Windows) and type "time clock" — it'll jump you straight there.
Clocking in and out from your computer
The Time Clock page opens on a card showing your current status — Clocked Out, Clocked In, or On Break — with a live running timer once you're on the clock.
- To clock in: optionally type something in the Notes (optional) field, then click Clock In.
- To clock out: click Clock Out.
Your status, and the team's, updates automatically — no need to refresh the page.
Taking a break
While you're clocked in, the action button next to Clock Out toggles between:
- Break — starts your break and switches your status to On Break.
- End Break — ends the break and puts you back to Clocked In.
Your live timer keeps running the whole time so you (and your manager, in the Team Status panel) can see how long you've been on shift.
Setting up your kiosk PIN
If your shop uses a shared tablet for clocking in and out, each team member needs a PIN first.
1. Go to Settings → Team. 2. Find the Clock kiosk PIN card. Each row lists a team member with an input field next to their name. 3. Type a 4–8 digit PIN into your field. 4. Click Save.
The Save button isn't automatic — it only turns on once your entry actually differs from what's saved and is a valid 4–8 digit number (or blank). Until then it just shows a greyed-out Saved label. Typing a PIN doesn't save it by itself; you have to click Save to store it.
To clear a PIN (for example, if someone's leaving and shouldn't be able to use the kiosk anymore): select the digits in their field, delete them so it's blank, then click Save. There's no separate clear or "X" button — clearing a PIN uses the same field-and-Save step as setting one, just with an empty field.
Once a PIN is set, open the kiosk link shown on that same card (`/clock/your-shop-slug`) on the shared tablet.
Clocking in and out from the kiosk
On the shared tablet, staff enter their PIN on a numpad — no login required. The PIN submits automatically the instant you've entered 4 digits — it doesn't wait around for a longer PIN to finish. If you set a PIN longer than 4 digits (Settings will let you save up to 8), the kiosk only ever reads the first 4 and it won't match, so for kiosk use, stick to a 4-digit PIN.
- Wrong PIN: you don't need to do anything — an error message appears right on the PIN screen automatically, and the pad clears so you can try again.
- Correct PIN: you land on a confirm screen showing your name, role, and current status, with one big button:
- Clock in (green) if you're currently off the clock
- Clock out (amber) if you're currently clocked in
- Cancel: a Cancel link appears below that button on this confirm screen only — it's there so you can back out after a correct PIN match without actually punching (say, you just wanted to check your status, or tapped in by mistake). It has nothing to do with fixing a wrong PIN — a wrong PIN is handled automatically, as above.
Tap the big button to finish. What you see next depends on whether you clocked in or out:
- Clocking in: a simple "Welcome, [your name]!" success message — no shift total, since your shift just started.
- Clocking out: a "See you next time, [your name]!" message that *does* include your total time for the shift (e.g., "Clocked out · 6h 42m this shift").
The kiosk resets itself to the PIN screen automatically after a successful punch, or after 8 seconds of inactivity — or you can tap Tap to continue on the success screen.
Tracking time off
The Time Off Requests card on the Time Clock page shows everyone's requests — type, dates, and a status badge. Status badges display exactly as PENDING, APPROVED, or DENIED (uppercase, matching the underlying status — there's no title-case styling applied).
To submit a new time-off request, use the Time Off screen in the SalesThumb mobile app: pick a type (Vacation, Sick, Personal, or Other), a start and end date, and an optional reason, then submit. Your manager approves or denies it from there, and the status updates on both the mobile app and the web Time Clock page.
