Connecticut requires film plus glass to pass at least 35% (plus or minus 3%) on the front side windows, rear side windows and rear window, with luminous reflectance capped and no mirror-like film. The rear window, and the windows behind the driver on trucks and multipurpose passenger vehicles, are exempt with outside mirrors on both sides. Windshield material is allowed only on the topmost portion, its bottom edge at least 29 inches above the driver's seat, and not red or amber. On vehicles made and sold on or after January 1, 1994, each window tinted after factory delivery needs a registered compliance sticker, and a medical exemption goes through the DMV commissioner with a physician's or optometrist's documentation.
